General Discussion / Maine Heritage Village?
« on: March 13, 2009, 08:40:39 PM »
Does anybody know any details on the "Maine Heritage Village" being built on Route 1 across from the Wiscasset Motor Lodge?  I see in this article:

that the Maine Maritime Museum among other non-profits will have an exhibit at this site.

Museum Discussion / Wiscasset Newspaper web site redesign
« on: January 10, 2009, 10:35:16 AM »
I noticed the Wiscasset Newspaper has recently redesigned its web site, adding "Community Links" along the right side of the main (home) page.  I walked though some of the community pages and noticed:

* For Alna, the page features a photo of #10 at Sheepscot.

* For Lincoln County, is the photo of the sleigh from our Victorian Christmas?

* For Wiscasset, the page includes a link to our museum web site.

All in all, it's really nice to see the museum presented in this way, as now an established, prominent part of the community.

Volunteers / November/December Newsletter
« on: December 06, 2008, 12:11:28 PM »
I just received the November/December Newsletter.  As usual, another fine issue.  John and contributors are doing a great job.

Look all the activities reported in the newsletter that occurred the past few months -- a major photographic charter; track work at Maine Narrow Gauge; Septemberfest; ongoing restoration work on #9; the fall work weekend; Halloween; the shop extension; brush cutting; not to mention the every day tasks of running the museum and greeting the public.  Just an incredible list.

As someone who is "from away" and cannot get to the museum as often as I'd like, I want to say thank you to all the regulars who can and do help out at the museum nearly every weekend.

And a special thank you to Allan, who is stepping down from the administrative roles he's managed the past eight years.  His diligence has played a big part in the museum's growth.
