General Discussion / Re: Road Closures and Delays 2022

The plan for the bridge construction is to keep two lanes open at all times. The speed limit will be reduced but traffic should flow well. There is going to be a new stop light at the Woolwich fire dept. intersection. That may prove to be interesting!

With tonight's hard freeze down to 9 degrees hopefully it will hold up throughout the day tomorrow. I barely was able to drive out of the lot last Saturday with the mud! It is not looking like it will be overly sunny and staying at about 32 degrees. There's nothing like mud season in Maine!
Nice job Mike!

Storm totals are varying a lot from station to station. We only got 6 to 8" max here in New Gloucester. I have seen reports of 8" to 18" in Wiscasset. With the winds we had I don't think anyone knows how much snow we got.
We will likely find places with 3 feet and other places with nothing. It should be an interesting two days of clean up.

We will definitely bring a chainsaw with us when we go up the main line. It will be a lot of work to open it up.
I haven't seen a large amount of snow at the railroad yet. It will be interesting to see how the plowing goes.
I may show up on Monday to help clear SS. I'll be there on Tuesday & Wednesday for sure.

The comments from our first passenger is that it was kind of drafty and when I asked about it, he said the food service needs improvement! I'm confident that these issues will be worked out before the car goes on line for the public.  It was an exciting day moving the car with many talented people keeping a close eye on all aspects and possible problems. It went quite smoothly!

With the small track crew that we have with limited time and a large amount work that needs to be done, the idea of consolidating pertinent supplies will only help save time to get more work done. Hopefully, the tool car will also help. All of the materials for the fence and kiosk were donated other than a small piece of ice and water shield from the shop. The area around the tool shed looks much neater. Being on the ROW, it is a highly visible spot for the public. The entire railroad has an impressive large group of volunteers! It shows with the many projects that are being worked on and accomplished.

Safety wise it seems like a good idea to postpone it with the expected large crowd of visitors on Saturday.

I'm thinking that it may be necessary to have No Parking signs along the road but that would be up to the town and DOT.
The shrubbery should fill back in quickly which would block much of the turntable from the road other than the entrance.
It certainly will be an interest to many people as they drive by. The increased awareness of the railroad could lead to more people coming to visit and volunteer!

An amazing amount of work got done with lots of fun and comradery!  Lunch was awesome too. It is worth going to get the tour and check out their facilities and also help them out. I think that their volunteer base is much smaller than ours. The more that can come the better! Our help was greatly appreciated.

Is that the bracelet that we just found last week? I'm happy to see that it got back to the owner.

After installing the fence posts it seems logical to me that the phone connection could be mounted on one of the fence posts on the track side, which would keep it on the west side and also make it easier to get to from the track. That way there would be minimal movement of the line.

I'm there every Tuesday working with Steve Lennox. Maybe he can spare me for the afternoon, if not I can come back on Wednesday.

I have a small Kia and can put it in tight places. Any volunteer parking available near or beside the storage containers? I plan to be there for the entire day so I can get parked in if necessary.
