It was well after lunch time when the canopy got lifted. Fred left at noon.

The building was on the turntable because it won't fit past the water tower without removing the water spout so we were hoping to take it on the service track instead. However, it wouldn't clear the round house either. The water spout will have to be removed and at the same time we can fix the brackets and straighten it out. It was an exciting day to say the least!

As of now I have 14" of new snow and it is still snowing! Clean up tomorrow here may take longer than I expected. I will try to come in at some point but home takes first priority.

Has anyone tried the snowblower yet this year? I should be able to get it running when I come in. It would be a big help for the path to the loading ramp, etc.

I can come in on Tuesday but will need to clean up at home first so I'll be a little late. 10:00 at the latest.

Thanks Jason for explaining the snow removal. It makes sense. Looks like it may be a busy week coming up.

The so called "storm" is only going to be 4"-8". Not a big storm for Maine but big for this non winter we have had so far.
Another larger storm is predicted for Sunday and Monday. It would make sense to me to not run the plow on Saturday and then have to do it again 3 days later? Also a bigger storm is predicted for Thursday!
Maybe we will get a week or two of winter after all.

What a great story to start the new year!
Whoever has "the nail" could be any one of the many great volunteers at WWFry. Or perhaps at another railroad.
We are lucky to have so many dedicated volunteers.

Very well said! The ballast that is up to the rails in the guage in multiple places is causing premature rot on the ties as well as excessive ice and snow build up. Removing the excess ballast would be a good work weekend project. Preventative maintenance always pays off.

The railroad has a great and dedicated group of volunteers with a wide variety of experience and knowledge which fits well for the variety of work to be done. In just the short two years I have been there we have gained many new people. That is a good trend for sure. We all make it work and it shows with the public participation and positive comments that we get.

And 11 and coach 9 and flanger and box car and Engine House and

Trout Brook station & Turn Table and parking lot and ........

It would be nice to see one or two projects completed before taking on more. We have limited volunteers that have limited time to commit and complete all that is already on our plate. But I suppose we are looking into the future. The railroad is growing and the maintenance and upkeep is getting more demanding to keep the increasing amount of public trains to run safely.
