Work and Events / Re: Saturday's rail moving party

Haven't seen photos of so much rail on 2 ft flat cars since seeing the photos of the SR&RL being ripped up.  :( Thankfully we are now living in the age of 2 footer expansion rather than 2 footer contraction! :D

Mid to late October would be good for me and Sue, except for Saturday 18th October when we will be working a Mass Bay RRE trip.

Well, guess I got two out of three - I had better "study" for the next quiz! :)

Allan, I'll guess just one per location.

Boothbay Railway Village / Re: B&SR coach 11 at Boothbay

I agree it would be nice to see a restored baggage/mail car, but it could always be restored to its original type in the future.  For the present I would think its third life as a straight coach ( it had been a combine for awhile as well) is far more useful for the Boothbay operation.

Great photos, Matt.  You successfully captured the look of a working 2 footer back in the day!

Joe, maybe that new Budd car could be used to "test the waters" when the time comes.

Mike, Thanks for posting the photos of the flanger.  Sure is good to see some B&SR/B&HR equipment back in native territory after all these years.
Would it be possible to run a field trip like you did last year after the leaves are down?

Speaking of weather, I wonder if anyone could set up the weather radar page on the new site like we had on the old one.

No problem, Ed - I'm sure the treaurer will be more than willing to add a few more zeroes on your WW&F paycheck ;D

UK (Welsh, British) Two Footers / Sandy River Replica Locos
« on: August 01, 2008, 02:55:50 PM »
While enjoying Stephen Hussar's contribution on the near-completion of the standard gauge "Tornado" in England I thought of the project to replicate two Sandy River locos in Wales, at the Brecon Mountain Railway.  Does anyone have any recent news?  I just checked their website and there was just a vague reference.

Thanks for the report, Phil.   I take it the equipment is getting rebuilt at the Boston Lodge Works and that there is no loading gauge problem over the Cobh on the FR.  I'm looking forward to my next visit - my previous time there was back in the 80s.  I saw some of the WHR then - it was kind of like looking at the WW&F up beyond Whitefield these days.  It will be nice to see and ride the entire line.

Would this section cover the Monson?  I know that toward the end it was pretty much just a slate carrier - somewhat of an industrial.

Guess we all lost our seniority on this roster! ;)
Thanks for straightening out the forum problems, James.
