They also have antique airplanes some of which are still flying.
Their collection also includes World War I and World War II military equipment.

Wow, now we can walk along the East side of the rail without falling down into the swamp.

Should be platform work all week.
Brendan,
I am so glad that you are now on the platform.  It will go faster and be professionally completed.

Like most volunteers I came for the trains.  I came back for the comradery of the other volunteers.

My interest that stemmed from those two draws was amplified by being able to work on railroad projects that can’t be replicated in the other more formal museums or tourist railroads.  For more than 15 years my volunteering has given me the opportunity to be an integral part in helping to construct, expand and operate many aspects of a historical railroad.

What I get from this a broader knowledge of history, trains, and construction techniques, also comes with enjoying the friendship of a growing cadre of volunteers and the gift of interacting with our visitors and riders.

An ashpan fire I once witnessed was smoldering between the rails between two cockeyed curves.

Bruce,
I am not an expert, but in layman's terms there are lead truck swing links that appear to allow the truck axle to move left or right when entering a curve, this is pivoted from under the cylinders.  This exerts a force in the direction of the curve which pulls the locomotive drive wheels in that direction.  A similar design is on car trucks which allows the wheel sets to move left or right under the pivot point while exerting a force to center the car over the rail center.  I hope my understanding is somewhat correct.

Look at the color graphic on page 40 just above the bottom of the string of messages.

We're sending everything over to Mountain Machine in Auburn...
They will machine and assemble the lead and main drive axle assemblies.
Does this mean that they will do the quartering?  I remember the effort it took to quarter 9 during the rebuild.  It took invention of an amazingly complex machine by our mechanical engineer to accomplish that.

Since I have the nickname of B superscript 2 or B squared, I changed my vote to T cube.

Welp- I was wrong about how the poll works.  So I added options for additional pledges.  Sorry it got complicated..

Thanks
Jason
To change one's pledge one has to remove the original vote (pledge) then one can make a new vote (pledge) with additional options.

It's that dad burned wabbit again...

If you wish to pledge more than one copy, please vote the appropriate number of times for the first line of the poll.
Since I have voted (only once) I only see a "remove vote" option.  How does one vote more than once for additional pledges?

I would put up $50 for two rule books, not necessarily for me but to help a younger person or someone who can't afford the fee.
I'll join Start's plan and pledge for 4 books, two for me, two for future brakemen.

I would gladly buy two if allowed so one could go on my display shelf.

Welcome Glenn.

As an "away" volunteer, I envy you for retiring in Maine.  If you are there this June when I come up from Virginia, please introduce yourself so I can give you a proper greeting and welcome to our great group of railroaders, but then you already know about our merry band of 2 footer enthusiast.
