Ed, that stove is for depots only, rolling stock had solid, flat bottoms so they wouldn't tip over.   dale

hey dave, should be a great trip. have seen many Polish videos on utube. some near Warsaw i think. and the kielbasa is wonderful!  if you have not done the Brocken in eastern Germany not far away from Berlin I recommend it, meter gauge, tons of steam engines, great scenery. not visitable until the communist regime fell, as the summit was East Germanys secret communications center.  dale

re: wheelchair access to reefer 67, my local church has a see-thru caged machine that raises about 5' and takes up only about 5' square of space. couldn't have been too expensive, our congregation of Presbyterians are very frugal. dale

This is an example of the recognition we are getting and richly deserve, especially after the restrooms were finished. My wife who is on the list for 'Smithsonian Journeys' travel trips, got a notice that we are on the itinerary for a fall tour of New England by rail, about $1000 a day so not cheap, lots of potential donors besides the tourists. Good job, Steve..... dale

Many RR songs are ficticious. One of my favorites is The Wabash Cannonball, where they say it goes everywhere, including Birmingham. This drove me nuts because I knew the real train only went between Detroit and St Louis. Then I figured out the song was written in c.1910 and the real train began c. 1948.  dale

john, good luck on a commercial run of 7/8 scale stuff, there are probably only a dozen or 2 people in this scale!!!!   dale

john, there is lots of wwandf parts for g gauge, 7/8 inch scale. most is from steve king of rocky mount, va. he has done several types of trucks and kits for rolling stock. a guy in new Zealand did a run of 5-10 pieces of #9 live steam about 15 years ago. I have one and it runs sweet. there is a yahoo group dedicated to this scale, and Jason kovacs in new jersey sells stuff. googling should work. dale

Bernie, you are correct, this is not the place for models. There are 2 yahoo groups for models, Steve king's '7/8 inch scale trains' group which is the best, and an all-scales group called 'Maine 2' modelers forum'. there is also an 's-e lounge' group which I don't do. good luck, dale

between mike's work yesterday and Brendan's today, TOM looks wonderful. from the rear of the train, you can clearly see the sites for both tracks, and the severe downward slope beyond. dale

had the privilege of riding the steam train both Saturday and sunday and like the new whistle very much. having ridden narrow gauge locos all over the place for many decades, it sounds to me more like the other ng trains. and the new pop valve worked great!!!! dale
