Most of the freight on the branch in the late steam days was pulled by 2-8-0's.

Why not just paint a red stripe on the handles for any tool to be returned to the tool car.  A blue stripe for a tool shed.  A green stripe for the shop, ect.  You could even just use a good sticky tape.

We had to actually study up on this. I think we had planned one every 100 feet out from the bridge in either direction, for a few hundred feet. I had put some thought into making them, planking the bottom and having a top so foot traffic does not suddenly find a hole in the gauge.but the top has to be partially open so if a turtle becomes trapped in the gauge he has a way out.

Why not just leave ballast closer to the top of the rails in a few places.  If the turtle got in it can get out.  Unless it is a very unlucky turtle and it happens to decide to cross the rails exactly when the train comes rolling along  but then if that is what we are worried about, we need a turtle fence not a turtle crossing.  Is this a real thing or just another thread slide joke again?  Seriously.....

I wonder if the plastic culverts are an issue?

I remember clearing in from 218 through to the bridge many years ago.  The brush was so thick you could not see ten feet in front of you as you cleared it all out.  I totally missed that curve after the culvert as the ground had been altered a bit by logging.  I went straight and suddenly there was a big hill in front of me.  Oops!   :)
Allan Fisher went around the next day by the brook and found the bridge sight location.  We realized the mistake and cleared the rest of the way to the bridge location the next day.

Looks like the forecast keeps getting better.  Maybe not much rain at all for Saturday.

Looks like the weather forecast just got a little bit better.  Scattered showers for Friday and the first part of Saturday.  Not a washout and not that much of a predicted rain total.

We had heard the story but could not find it while we were cutting up there 2 years ago.

When Allen and I cleared the ROW from 218 south many years ago it was there on the right side as you go south from 218.  It was there for some time afterwards but it disappeared about ten years ago I would guess.
