Museum Discussion / Re: LGB/Marklin Releases Model of #9
« on: September 17, 2021, 07:04:22 AM »
While it is nice they are making this and will help publicize the railroad the fact is it is being made in large scale based on holds they already have.  The G scale producers unlike rest of the scales slap a new paint job on something weather the design is correct or not because they will not spend the money to correct molds or make new parts.

Since Marklin acquired LGB all they have been doing is running the existing molds and have not seen anything really new.

Mike,  great job so far and I know there is still a lot to do.  Hope you're planning Phase II for SWW (siding trim, floor, etc.)  I hope the BOD will give thought to Phase III, (electric, enclosed end for stage & storage) plus maybe a BBQ pit  ::)

Don't think enclosing one end is best idea for the building and the light.  Having electric,  Having a fire pit out front, having a BBQ pit, investing in removable sides that are clear and can be rolled up, and installing a lot of LED lights either strung across or wrapped around the framing and you have one heck of a place for events or weddings.  While I would enclose an end for a stage you could put some risers in on one end.

Would be nice if you could find more of them as think they look good in the yard and at the Alna station during evening events.

Museum Discussion / Re: Outside the box idea for revenue
« on: July 09, 2020, 01:04:50 PM »
If this is spot for outside box thinking personally felt that the organization should rework it's youtube channel and start doing a series of videos and talks discussing history and ongoing projects.  These types of videos are very popular and some great examples are the Tank Museum of Bovington in England and Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels:

With all media people that come to shoot think some might help in creating these types of video's which would serve purpose of some revenue from ad's as well as getting word out on the railroad to others around the world.

Volunteers / A big thank you back to those at Sheepscot
« on: October 14, 2019, 08:20:51 PM »
While it was fun working with everyone this weekend and to see the progress that was accomplished I did want to make a post to thank all those back at home base for taking the time to volunteer and help keep the rest of us fed and cared for when we are there.  My first day I saw one volunteer who was up all night working on food to help support us that day. I did manage to see some of the ladies preparing trays of food while walking through the house Sunday afternoon on my way out and did thank them as their support and effort really go a long way on days like Saturday when we are cold, wet and miserable and can at least partake in some hot food and forget our aches and pains for a while.  Again a big heart felt thank you from this volunteer for your time and effort!

Looking at picture from the bridge I am assuming that from bridge south is getting a coating of fill?

Seeing as there will be a lot of people who did the work last year it seems like there is a very good chance of rail being laid quickly.  Will there be any staging of any ballast cars to follow the spiking crew?

I do plan to attend on Fri., Sat. and Sun. I will try doing spiking when I can but my hands do not seem to last long in gripping hammer after a few.  I do have experience from last year working with the gantry system and laying rail.
