Is that going to be filmed and added to the Train Time series?  That would be great.

There is some track that is over 80 years old in Hallowell.  I wonder if it would be appropriate or available?  Obviously a bit rusty and only a few hundred yards worth....

See the picture associated with this article: http://www.onlinesentinel.com/news/old-hallowell-quarry-yields-granite-again_2010-06-14.html

They own some of it, have land use agreements with some of the owners, and there are some parcels that they neither own nor have any sort of use agreement.  At least one part of the RoW is now a state road.

If they wanted to expand all the way to Whitefield there would need to be a large amount of negotiation with many interested parties.

James,
What thickness does it take to hold up a, say, 200 lb. person?

The minimum safe thinkness to walk or skate is 3 inches.  For a snowmobile or other ATV it should be 6 inches.  For a Car or truck it should be 12 inches.

Of course there are several things that can cause thin ice as well.  Whereever water enters or exits a lake you can get thin ice.  Also, a pressure ridge will sometimes form and when it subsides you can end up with open water that quickly gets a skin on it.

It says the engine is a replica, but is now deisel fired.

How do you measure the gauge on that?  It is a few inches or do you measure between the lower (guide?) rails?

Ed;
Despite what Duncan said I can't view the new headlight on my work PC. On my Mac at home I can see Steve's new headlight. What I see on the PC is a solid triangle with a line across it on an angle sort of like a see-saw. Has anyone else had this problem?
KD

I had the same problem until after my PC crashed one time and I was suddenly logged out.  When I logged back in the headlights were there.  You could try:
1. logging out and logging back in
2. clearing your temporary internet files

There is a fair amount of text that is Black on a darkish color that is very difficult to read and difficult on the eyes.  Back in the 80's I wrote a research paper on the use of color in computer applications and dark on dark is tough.

Other than that, I like it.

There are older ones still on there, like the bridge one.

Anyway, I checked my history and this can currently be found at:
http://www.wcsh6.com/life/programming/local/207/story.aspx?storyid=94353&catid=50

I wonder if these are sorted by popularity tempered with time.  Maybe if we all hit the page it will sort back into the popular items and will keep the museum with a little PR.
