Monson Railroad / Monson Railroad Visit August 2024

On the way up to Greenville Jct Sue and I took a short sidetrip to see the Monson Jct and Monson stations.   Monson Jct looked about the same as 5 years ago but a bit more hidden by trees.
Monson (Town) station did not look too well on the south end where several pieces of the wooden siding has fallen off the structure.  The track built for a visit of former M R R engine 3 is still there.
Hopefully whoever owns the building can pay a visit and make some repairs.

Museum Discussion / Storm of Sept 30, 2015

How did we make out with all that rain so far?  My sister up in Hope said they had 6 inches there and there is a "moat" around her garage, like alongside the car barn.  (They're also on clay similar to around the WW&F at Sheepscot.)
At least the Hurricane seems to be going out to sea.  Hopefully all this will wring all the dampness out the atmosphere and give us a dry Fall Work Weekend.

* Local Masons have an event going on at Alna Center on Saturday afternoon.

I know this is a wee bit off the topic of Joe & Lindsey, but seeing and hearing about the annual task of r o w mowing, are there any 2 foot gauge bush hogs around?  Or maybe a sickle bar carrier to get the close-in areas.

In the "took a wrong turn" department:
Just got a report from the RMNE assistant treasurer concerning our Christmas season ticket sales.  Included was mention of a refund to a couple from New Jersey that drove to Thomaston MAINE looking for the Naugatuck Railroad's "Northern Lights Express" train, which departs from the Thomaston CT station.  I e-mailed back to her too bad they did go to Maine next Saturday - at least they could have salvaged their trip with a visit to the WW&F's Victorian Christmas!  And sent our Board of Trustees a link to the WW&F site.

Museum Discussion / WW&F Railway Museum Article

Had a surprise when I opened up the latest (May) "Hemmings Motor News" to find a one page story on the current WW&F.  Hemmings, a well respected monthly publication concerning antique motor vehicles, has recently expanded their content from their mainly classified ad base.  And even more recently, a "Wings, Rails and Keels" article has occasionally appeared dealing with other antique forms of transport, and it was our turn.
Our recent addition, the Ford AA, was featured along with 309, 10, Stewart and an engineer I couldn't identify, up at Alna Center.
I'm sure the article will generate a few more visits to the WW&F. 
As I seem to remember a past article on a vintage hi-rail type vehicle, I'm sure we could get something done on the upcoming Model T when it is ready.

UK (Welsh, British) Two Footers / Golden Spike on the W H R

It looks like the golden spike ceremony marking the completion of the rebuilding of the Welsh Highland Railway will take place this weekend.  The ceremony will be held in Portmadoc, where the WHR will be linked with the Ffestiniog, the railway that inspired the two footers on this side of the Atlantic.

UK (Welsh, British) Two Footers / Sandy River Replica Locos

While enjoying Stephen Hussar's contribution on the near-completion of the standard gauge "Tornado" in England I thought of the project to replicate two Sandy River locos in Wales, at the Brecon Mountain Railway.  Does anyone have any recent news?  I just checked their website and there was just a vague reference.

Would this section cover the Monson?  I know that toward the end it was pretty much just a slate carrier - somewhat of an industrial.
