Easy enough to cut a hole in the roof when the pipes go in.

Thank you Brendan

I have a question. Why weren't the smoke jacks put in when the roof was bare? I'm assuming to there wasn't a risk of leaking, just curious.

Finally going to Victorian Christmas this year. I can't wait. What events are planned? Will 9 be the only steamer in operation? I'm assuming so with 7 in Portland and 3 at Edaville.

December 2, 9, and 16, 2023.

Thank you good sir. Will be there, weather depending, on the 9th

Do we have dates for Victorian Christmas?

Volunteers / Re: How (not) to deal with passengers

Every story has 2 sides and we are seeing one side. So many questions are unanswered.. Having a Board discussion about the incident is definately the correct initial response, but it should have happened before the news was involved..

After thinking it over. I agree with Mike. There are two sides to a story and we are getting one side. However telling passengers to get off the train and walk back to the station is extreme. what should have happened was either the train returns to the station to put the passengers off or send another train out to pick up the passengers.

just my .2 cents.

Wow, just the fact that the family was forced to walk back is wrong

Whimsical Weirdness and Foolery / Re: Caption This...

A diagram of planned Sheepscot platform improvements published in the January/February WW&F Newsletter:

And the caption:  "Planned improvements at Sheepscot Station. Over the years, the foundations under our Sheepscot track platform, freight house and passenger shelter have shifted significantly, rendering the north end of the track platform and the shelter no longer safe for use. To remedy this, Chesterfield Associates will be shifting the freight house and passenger shelter out of the way, before driving new piles to support the platform, freight house and a new passenger shelter. The existing 100-foot track platform and freight house will be lowered about 12 inches, and a new 80-foot elevated track platform extension will be built to the north, as well as a new passenger shelter and walkway/ramp running on the east side behind the shelter, freight house and station. The existing passenger shelter will eventually be moved to Top of Mountain for reuse there. Once completed, we expect to use the north window of the station (marked by a star above) for passenger check-in, opposite the door to the gift shop."

With the existing 100' platform dropped 12 inches, I understand our wheelchair guests will be accommodated by the 80' elevated platform extension.

The Photo/videographer in me is curious. The above diagram does not show width of the new ramps and walkways, Approximately how wide will they be?

I *think* Mark was referring to constructing something on the new Sheepscot platform.

Yes, that was considered, but quickly ruled out due to the plumbing required. There has been talk about adding a porta-potty to the Sheepscot area for busy days, as patrons typically do not see the Restrooms near the parking lot, then discover there are no facilities near the boarding platform. The giftshop and station crew would also appreciate facilities a bit closer to the action.
Yes I was talking about the new platform. You could a compost toilet and and have hand sanitizer
