Volunteers / Re: Printed Rulebook Pledges
« on: February 11, 2024, 09:04:48 AM »
My experience as a printer all my life is that if you order 200 for the first printing it would likely be less than ordering a reprint.
Something to look in to.

It sure looks much different now.
I do hope that someone took some before and after pictures of what we accomplished.
A lot got done as usual and the food and weather were both awesome for the 4th year in a row!

Hopefully the 3"-5" of snow predicted for there will be gone by Saturday! Saturday is looking like it will be in the 50's. I'm looking forward to being there.

It is always a fun and productive day. And yes, we have been very lucky with good weather the last three years.
Any chance Sharon could arrange a trip on the line for us all? Maybe during lunchtime.
I am looking forward to being there.

Volunteers / Re: Trimming/ Weed Whacking

All four blade trimmers have been repaired, sharpened and tested in case anyone wants to do some trimming.
The older gray trimmer runs well but the stop switch does not work so it needs to be choked to turn off.
Remember, the trimmers use 50:1 mixed gas. The containers are clearly labeled.

Whimsical Weirdness and Foolery / Re: Am I a Maine Native?
« on: May 22, 2023, 03:57:01 PM »
Now I have to chime in!  It is my opinion that anyone born in Maine is a native. What else can they be called?
Anyone hearing my normal Maine accent would not question that I am a native. But the fact is, I was born in Brockton, MA two months early as my parents were passing through on their way home to Maine! I have lived in Maine ever since. I still consider myself a native but officially I guess I am not. Close enough for me!

Where did the rail crane end up being stored?

It was well after lunch time when the canopy got lifted. Fred left at noon.

The building was on the turntable because it won't fit past the water tower without removing the water spout so we were hoping to take it on the service track instead. However, it wouldn't clear the round house either. The water spout will have to be removed and at the same time we can fix the brackets and straighten it out. It was an exciting day to say the least!

As of now I have 14" of new snow and it is still snowing! Clean up tomorrow here may take longer than I expected. I will try to come in at some point but home takes first priority.

Has anyone tried the snowblower yet this year? I should be able to get it running when I come in. It would be a big help for the path to the loading ramp, etc.

I can come in on Tuesday but will need to clean up at home first so I'll be a little late. 10:00 at the latest.

Thanks Jason for explaining the snow removal. It makes sense. Looks like it may be a busy week coming up.
