For those like me who typically use I-295 through Portland to get to the Museum, this road will be closed between exits 9 and 10 the weekend of October 22nd for a rapid bridge replacement project at exit 9 -- Veranda Road.

The rapid bridge replacement is very cool. They have done several around lately. Build the new bridge next to the old one and slide it into place after demolishing the old in most cases.

Yes, definitely. A couple of/few years ago this approach was used for I-93 bridges north of Boston, and this summer on the Mass Pike/I-90 west of Boston. All went very well by all reports I read. A tribute to all involved.

A few years ago, it was done in NW Ohio, when two bridges were replaced where I-75 went over US 6.
