The W.W.& F. RR members plan to return Nov. 6, 2021 to continue work on the bay 2 track into your new car barn. Let's hope the weather is as good as last year.

Last track to go into the new car barn. First Saturday in November 2022. The W.W. and F. crew will arrive about 9:00 A.M. Hope all plan to be there. Will leave Sheepscot Station about 7:00 A.M.

Again this year we'll be heading for Sandy river railroad the first Sat in November to do track work by Sanders station. We leave Sheepscot Station at 7:00 am for Phillips, so we arrive around 9:15. Let's hope the weather is as good as the last Three years.

It is always a fun and productive day. And yes, we have been very lucky with good weather the last three years.
Any chance Sharon could arrange a trip on the line for us all? Maybe during lunchtime.

I agree with Brian, we provide a ride on our railroad to work weekend workers, it would be interesting if the Sandy river did the same.
I realize it is not under steam but it would allow a better look at the property.

I am planning on going up there on Saturday to volunteer. I've never been to SR&RR but have driven through the area many times. Where is the place to park and meet up with the volunteers? I'm coming from Rome, so it doesn't make sense for me to drive to Alna.

When you get to Phillips, cross the river and go up over the steep hill, The station is just down the hill.

Find your way onto Bridge St. You can't miss the station.

I don't know if anyone took pictures yesterday. There was about a half dozen of us from the WW&F, and another half dozen or so SR&RL volunteers. They had torn out a section and a half of track right compass west of the bridge, removed the ties, put in new longer ties, and replaced the rail. We had to adjust the height of the ballast and spike the track. They are rebuilding a siding that was there so that they can load/unload cars/engines for road transport. A group worked on getting the ramp built, while another group worked building the track from the frog across the bridge (as a gauntlet track); the "switch" will be done as a stub switch to be moved as needed when the road moves happen. Fred, JB and I came up together and left about 2:30, people were still going strong when we left.

That certainly looks like a partially completed loading ramp to the right of the dump cart.

It sure looks much different now.
I do hope that someone took some before and after pictures of what we accomplished.
A lot got done as usual and the food and weather were both awesome for the 4th year in a row!

There was 7 of us there. I took many photos. What a difference. I may eventually post them but not at this time.

Would love to see these photos. The last time I was in Phillips was about 2004.

This years work focused on the Main by the Sanders Depot, installing ties for a planned switch and laying track through the frog. The switch will be a stub switch, that will be bolted with joint bars.
