Title: storage shed
Post by: Jeff Schumaker on April 04, 2021, 02:49:55 PM
,I'm not sure if this is the correct location, or if it should be in the Members Only section. I'm sure Ed will move it, if necessary.

So, this temporary storage shed that has been mentioned elsewhere - it brings up a number of questions.

Prefab?
How large?
General storage or for specific projects?
Any idea how long it will be needed?
Will it be dismantled after it's served its purpose?

From the March 2021 BOD Meeting Reports:
Quote
We would like to add a 12’ x 24’ shed outside of the shop for storage of commonly used materials and tools near the shop but too space consuming to properly and safely be stored in the shop. Specifically we hope to store steel stock (20 and 21’ long), bolt bins, jacks, rigging, and other general shop needs. To keep the annex aesthetically pleasing, we propose a board and batten structure built and installed by others. We would install the structure on skids, so that we can fine tune it’s position and/or move it to an entirely different part of the campus at a later date. We have discussed several suppliers- there are several shed pre-manufacturers in the state, and we have discussed having the Whitefield and/or Ellsworth Amish price the project. We expect total expense to be between $7000 and $10,000 final cost. We have a $1000 donation toward this prospect at present. While the No 11 project can cover the cost-this is really a shop improvement for all projects and related departments.

I think that answers everything.

We're getting a shed almost identical to this one. Our shed will have a window between the side doors and the front. Delivery is expected the end of June. Last weekend we fixed the drainage and leveled the spot for the shed in front of bay 4.

What happened to the big door on the end and the board and batten siding?

The original we had found wasn’t available by the time we were ready.  This one was affordable and local.  The intent on the siding was that it be period appropriate.  Larger doors would be nice but these doors are standard from this builder and they’re plenty large enough for our intended purposes.

See ya
