How are you guys doing on the many restoration projects on the WW&F in other words what have I missed. I have been busy with College. :)

Hi Matt,
Welcome back. Hope all is well in college. What/where are you studying?
I decided that I would write a single summary to your various posts. I have deleted most of them (sorry) as to prevent cluttering of those threads. For the most part the answers were already posted.
So what is museum doing with #8 at this moment?
Is #8's condition is still in operating condition? I hope she will find a great spot under cover somewhere on the proporty.
As far as I know (but I am not a member of Maine Narrow Gauge) the status of #8 has not changed. It is stored safely in the back of the enginehouse (and is under cover.) Unfortunately, it is not accessible by casual visitors. It would take some money to have her steam again, in order to meet current FRA regulations. Instead, MNG is working on steaming Monson #4 for Christmas trains, and work on #7 continues.
So whats the outcome now for [the MNG relocation outside of Portland]?
It has been reported that they hoped to make a decision soon. Portland, Gray, and Bridgeton are the 3 sites under consideration.
Any word on the progress on the Tank Car Restoration?
No work has been done on the B&SR tank at the WW&F museum.
So will [the Turner Centre Dairy reproduction refer] be used in mixed trains and will it be stored on the WW&F grounds?
No and No. The trucks being used will not suffice for an in-service car. Moreover, the car will be placed about 5 miles from the museum, along the Wiscasset waterfront.
How much by percentage are you at in the restoration of #9?
That's a tough one to answer. I suspect that we are in the home stretch, as parts are being assembled, etc. There is a recent picture on the forum that shows the frame coming together, and the boiler nearly complete. My best guess is that #9 will be finished before you graduate from college.
How was the (annual) picnic guys?
Lots of fun. There is a full report in the WW&F Newsletter, and in other sections of the Forum.

Awsome, is there a good chance for #9 to be back in operation with #10 sometime this year. :)
-
No. Unless something changes radically (which would involve a bucket of money) I would say that there is no possibilty of #9 being completed in the remaining months of 2011.

There is zero probability of #9 being ready for steam before the end of 2011 (even if we got a boatload of money, there's still the fact it takes time to do the work). However the probability of #9 being under steam before the end of 2012 is definitely greater than zero - beyond that, I can't say but based on the amount of work we've gotten done over the summer (during the operating season no less!) makes me confident with this prediction.
Of course .001% is still greater than zero....as is 99%. I won't try to narrow the margin down.
