All,
I've just uploaded some Annual Picnic photo freight footage, to Vimeo.com
The footage was shot in HD and you will need a hi-speed connection for it to play smoothly on your computer. Thanks again to Dana and Rick for posing with the train and letting the photo group "fire away." http://vimeo.com/4552678
Enjoy!

Stephen,
Do more please! I watched it once on my laptop then watched three or four times on my big PC with 22" wide screen monitor. That sure beats anything I've seen to date.

Gee Steve, in HD you can even see the smoke linger!
-
Stephen;
Excellent video! I echo Frank - more video. It's almost like being there.

That video is incredible. I love the shot of the train coming up the ladder. Especially as you can hear the old girl work harder as she starts up the grade. Also, when the train was posed for a few minutes with the crew out next to the engine. Well done Steve.

After some initial trouble getting the video to run I was finally able to see it this morning. Fantastic! The lighting in the shot of the train going through Alna Center is just incredible. Thanks for all of your contributions, Stephen. You're a true artist with the camera.

Dana,
What did you do to get it to run? I have tried both our site and the RPN site and it will not run. It goes black if I click on the forward arrow. I have high speed cable internet.
-
Ira, it starts off back, perhaps 3 or 5 seconds of it, then brightens into the scene. It might take a minute to get downloaded to run for you. But it is well worth the wait.

Steve, I'll echo the other comments ... it's a beautiful video. The lay over near the ladder is what you don't often see in many railroad videos. I'll bring up my suggestion of producing a museum DVD again. Your video (and more like it) is perfect for producing a new DVD. I think railfans and the public will purchase a DVD with scenes other than the regular operation of the railroad. The photo freight is a good example. Scenes like the one at AC are great, especially with extras like we ran at last year's picnic with the museum's AA truck. I'll support the production of a museum DVD by ordering a few ... I'll even kick in some seed money to get the project started if the Board approves.

I have tried to view the video, but I keep getting this message:
You do not have permission to view this user's videos because they are all private.
Am I doing something wrong?

I have waited over a minute and still nothing but black. I am connected at 400mps.
Now what?
-
It would appear that vimeo only allows free viewing for a short period of time - as after viewing a number of times right after Steve posted it, it now says I am not authorized to view.
And as to pushing a museum DVD - this is not the right time. We are in danger of placing our wonderful videographer into FULL STRESS MODE, as he is already working full time (when he is not at his paid job or sleeping) on the Pratt B&SR DVD and the Locomotive #9 pilot for Restoration Stories.
All in good time - Yes a Museum DVD is highly desirable - and looking at the Gonthier. Auburn Railroad Club, and Rita museum DVD's that already exist - we know that Steve Hussar's videos are a quantum step above in quality.
So let's let Steve build up a library of HD clips, and hope that after he has finished other projects for us, he will tackle a WW&F Museum DVD. Maybe in 2010 or 2011.- or 2012 or 2103- or 2014.

Back to YouTube, I guess.

There's nothing wrong with your computers...the video is temporarily unavailable while I play with the settings in my account. At some point, probably early next week, I'll upload a new version which will be even higher resolution!
Thanks again for all of your really nice comments. I'll post a message as soon as the clip is available again...

Hello again...
Here is the new link. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. New version should be more than twice the resolution of the original.

Enjoy!

Much Better!!
I can almost count the whiskers in Ric's beard! :D
That's quite the zoom you've got on that thing, Stephen...
-
And I can see a spot that Big Joe Tapiere needs to hit in the middle of Cockeye Curve
-
Even I can see it!!
