I'm afraid that James means that he is going to bring a photo album to Sheepscot Station in Alna, Maine, on this coming Saturday. Unfortunately, due to all the snow, there's no good place to land your helicopter should you care to visit. The snow has also grounded the WW&F helicopter, so we can't bring the album out to you.

It's tough to find a steam-powered helicopter in flying condition, but thanks to Jason for his hard work in keeping it airworthy (when weather permits, of course). It's really a sight when it's hovering over Alna Center.

The museum's fully functional Halftrack could make it, but wouldn't you know it, the darn thing's been put away in Leon's garage for the winter!

The halftrack has been particularly successful in increasing volunteer performance on work weekends. The frequency of volunteers wandering off to explore the R.O.W. has significantly decreased.

Gee, he's got it up to 140 mph, and he's not even up to the south switch of the Sheepscot runaround! By the time he gets to Alna Center, the car will be even shorter than it is now due to Lorenz contraction.

I was in reverse at the time! I went to school with Paul Lorenz. I don't remember him having any contractions those his wife may have.

Many people don't realize this, but for a while, the water tank at the WW&F had been painted to give homage to one of the most famous of all of the two-footers...

Ok guys - STOP !!!!! I'm bust'in a gut here......... Obviously there are several whom have way too much time on their hands. Must be cabin fever kicking in. ;D
Maybe to add some humor to the museum we should have a second "fun" calendar with photoshop pics along the line of "Dilbert" and "The Far Side". Bet it would be a hot-seller....

But John, Dave planned on turning his headlights on at Sheepscot Mills... theoretically, wouldn't the photons slow him down?

We may not have the Edaville tank but we don't have the 2-ft Thomas the Tank Engine (TM) they keep in their shed either.
And though bringing Thomas to Alna might be a good fund raiser, (a) we don't have room for the crowds, and (b) it's not very prototypical for Maine.
So I propose we bring out...

It's gotta be a real chore to signal for those grade crossings at hypersonic speeds.
Also, too bad the main line isn't double tracked.. I'd be racing Dave in my two-foot gauge Mini!

John, you forgot to mention the affects of Time Dilation, as by the time he returns to Sheepscot, while he will have aged but a few minutes, we will all be ancient old fogeys! Wait a minute....that's true even if he doesn't make the journey.....never mind!

Seriously,... it's too bad we don't have track all the way to Albion. If Dave got his mini going fast enough he theoreticaly could wind up in 1935 with a wad of cash! Perhaps enough to save one locomotive!
Although, given the value of today's dollar to the 1935 dollar, he'd have to seriously load down the mini with $20's!!

If an early general manager could have had Thomas the Bank engine bring in boatloads of kids who wanted to ride behind him in Annie or Clarabelle, he would probably jumped at the chance to get Thomas on his line. To quote John Goodman's character in Oh, Brother, Where art Thou?, "It's all about the money, boys!"

As to movie lines, I recall that the water tank was marked with "A#1 South on 19 to Portland" From another great movie and all time WW&F track crew favorite, Emperor of the North.

The museum's first motive power has been repainted to a more prototypical scheme, and renumbered as such...

Note that the reverse gear has also been set to automatically change when the end of track is reached. The operator's chair also spins automatically in the appropriate direction.

I also like the addition of the bell. Should come in handy if the little critter gets lost out on the line.

If truth be told, I believe the bell was in the original photo and was not a PhotoShop addition. It successfully kept the little critter from getting lost, but did not prevent it from falling off the track once in its early days. Nor did the bell sufficiently warn a porcupine that had a fatal encounter.
