Title: Trimming/ Weed Whacking
Post by: Mike Fox on June 10, 2023, 09:04:19 PM
If anyone shows up looking for somethimg to do, think Trimming/Weed whacking.. Our volunteers that used to do it can no longer for various reasons. I don't mind doing it but if I am doing it, I don't get to work on much else.

Mike,

Are you specifically thinking of the ROW or around campus. Any specific locations to hit first?

Thanks!

Sorry, left that part out. Mainly around the campus. Trying to keep it looking good.

If we do anything along the line is should be a specific targeted attack..like crossings.

This is good to know. Many times I've thought of doing it, but I didn't want to "step on toes".

I was hoping that by putting the "ask" out there that someone may step up.. Those that have done it in the past did well, but have reached the point where they can not continue. But the task still needs doing..

All four blade trimmers have been repaired, sharpened and tested in case anyone wants to do some trimming.
The older gray trimmer runs well but the stop switch does not work so it needs to be choked to turn off.
Remember, the trimmers use 50:1 mixed gas. The containers are clearly labeled.

Thanks Brian, the blades had become so dull that the knocked over more than they were cutting

When Fred sharpens them, they cut through the weeds easily. The fact that they are old is irrelevant.
