There are many people who made the picnic a great success. Some started days before the event, beginning work on Monday the 4th and working every day until the weekend. A few volunteers who went the extra mile are: Fred, Dwight, Bill and his son Brian who cut weeds and brush, making our grade crossings safer. Steve, Kathy, Cindy and Dawn who shopped for food and did prep work prior to Saturday. A lot of people set things up on Friday. Preparations included: setting up the dining hall tent, grill, tables, chairs, moving the fridge from the house and loading fruit cups for Saturdays' lunch. Coal was loaded and brought for #10. Switching was done to free up and move cars for special trains and operations. Track work (lifting, leveling and tamping) was done on the main stem of the upper yard spur for safer train handling since there were a number of special moves through there. John M. was the engineman on #52 that did much of the switching.
New merchandise was rolled out just in time for the picnic: A special 25th Anniversary T shirt (designed by James and Linda) went on sale Saturday morning. Also, the museums' 2015 calendar was available, with more beautiful photographs from Stephen Hussar. The 2015 issue is back to the color format. The gift shop crew put in extra hours getting ready and maning the counters for two long days. A special thank you to the member who donated a new refrigerator for the Percival house, just in time for the picnic.
There are many more folks who set up displays, helped with the Saturday evening freight and did other behind-the-scenes work ... thanks for your dedication to the WW&F Railway!

Some more photos from Saturday. This a jalopy owned by the scrap metal collector on the west end of Cross Road. I don't know its pedigree. Not sure I'd want to ride in the back seat!

Photo 2: Looking back at the grading work Mike's been doing. The area is still pretty soupy, so he's started grading below the crest of the grade in hopes of improving drainage.

Sorry I am late with the photos of the event. My current computer is rapidly running out of space....I have over 90,000 images and the dreaded "DISK FULL" is not very far away. I have a new machine on order, and hopefully, within a couple of weeks, I will have about 4 Terabytes to work with....which should keep me going for a while.

Some really nice light at Rosewood Crossing in your pictures, Kevin.

Hi James,
I think this is the crossing just south of Albee's Field. I am sure you folks have a more formal name for it. Rosewood has fewer shadows at that time of day.....but we shot there last year and I think everyone was looking for something a little different. The Albee's shot was challenging, because we also had a dark storm cloud to the west that was really messing with the sun. We did manage to get a couple of run-bys with full sun however, and that did produce some nice stuff.

Actually the crossing south of Albee's field is Albee's Crossing. My mistake on the location!
