Title: Planning a trip to the WW&F
Post by: Tim Stuy on June 10, 2022, 06:52:17 PM
I want to plan a trip to the WW&F - I haven't been to the railroad in 4 years and miss visiting.  I want to make sure I am there on a day when you are operating over the Mountain Extension.  It looks like there are trips on August 6th and August 13th.  Are there other days in August or September when you will be running over the Mountain Extension?

Hi Tim,

Most trains will be operating to Trout Brook Station after August 6th.
This includes:
Sat. Aug 6th: Grand Opening Celebration
Sat. Aug 13th: Annual Picnic
Sun. Aug 14th: Photo Special
Sat. Aug 20th: Sheepscot Valley Steamtrain and Ride the Rails to Hike the Trails
Sat. Aug 27th: Sheepscot Valley Steamtrain and WWI Reenactment
Sun. Aug 28th: Sheepscot Valley Steamtrain and WWI Reenactment
Sat. Sept 3rd: Sheepscot Valley Steamtrain and Ride the Rails to Hike the Trails

We will not be operating public trains on 9/10 or 9/17.
We will resume the Sheepscot Valley Steamtrain on 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, and 10/22.

Tim,
I have been to several of the Annual Picnics if you can get to that event it would be a good time
to visit.

I concur.   When people ask me what’s the best time to visit the WW&F, if they can only come one time, Annual Picnic is probably their best bet.   It’s when they are most likely to see not only a full schedule of operations, but potentially, some equipment or operations that don’t happen at other times.   For folks who are not inclined to come for just a one-day event, this year, they can potentially make it a two-day event, if they sign up for the photo excursion on Sunday.

Tim,
Kevin and Ted are providing great advice on when to visit.  The Annual picnic is when most of the true WW&F's are in attendance.  Plus there is always a special train ride available.
