Title: RR Spikes/rail/
Post by: Carl G. Soderstrom on February 26, 2021, 09:39:52 PM

Production was not impressive but some basic information.
You might run it at 1.25% speed.
And of course you could go down the "Rabbit Hole".(Watch all the other posts by him)

While he knows railroading as it is his job,
i laughed when he said that spikes are low carbon steel while holding one marked HC on the head for High Carbon!

I must have link issues because they don't take me to the spikes. Instead it is someone working on a Live Steam locomotive

An interesting article on the carbon content of various grades of railroad spikes:

Track Anchors or Anti-creepers

He hasn't improved his presentation style but maybe interesting.

Many years ago I remember seeing the "Stead" style Anti-creeper. Have no idea about others.
Also I remember places that had Anchors on only one side of Tie. Mainly on many mile long
steep grade lifting out of the Mississippi valley to the Bluff Country in southern MN.
(Over 500 ft rise- on the way to Rochester MN)
