Title: plowing snow

This is a link to a dearborn snow plow that was made to fit a ford 8n tractor. I have seen what i was told was one and they would make a excellent second  plow so the crew would not have to switch the plow to the other end of the locomotive. http://n-news.com/marketplace/  scroll down, red v plow.

For 350 bucks - that's almost the cost of materials alone to build one.  Would recommend we have someone take a serious look at it.

That plow is in Peterborough, next town over from me.  I'd be happy to go look at it once I get the OK.

The problem with a double ended plow is while you plow in one direction, the plow fills in behind you in the other direction. We have a system devised now that makes swapping the plow a breeze, compared to what it was.

Hi Guys,

I’ve looked on line at the NH plow;  I’m sorry but this plow just isn’t suitable for a number of reasons.  It’s cheap money for something that wouldn’t help us.

Our system for reversing the plow on 52 at ToM is very efficient- usually about 5 minutes.  As Mike mentioned, that avoids back dragging snow.

The real answer here is a reconstructed WW&F wooden plow and flanger.  Someday...

I'll second Jason's observation regarding reversing the plow at ToM.  I saw it in person on the 23rd in much less than ideal weather, and it went very well.

But thanks for looking out for opportunities like this.  We've greatly benefited in the past by someone pointing out an item available that has helped the museum.
