Title: WW&F YouTube Channel
Post by: James Patten on July 18, 2017, 05:18:02 PM
Today I set up the WW&F with a YouTube Channel.  There are lots of WW&F videos on YouTube now, and I'm hoping we can reference them all in one place.  I know that Eric Schade has a largish number of them, as do others.

If anyone's familiar with how YouTube channels work, I'd love to hear from you.  Even better would be if someone would search for and organize the videos.  I'll be happy to hand out the password.

It looks like YouTube automatically generated one:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr6t09ETsHmyq6zTeWSao1g/about (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr6t09ETsHmyq6zTeWSao1g/about)

We should probably "claim" this one and build upon it.

???  Figures.  And videos are already attached to it.

I took on the challenge and built up the official WW&F YouTube page:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCw1sLZdj1sNSEZ49axjknMQ (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCw1sLZdj1sNSEZ49axjknMQ)

Please check it out, "subscribe", etc. Thanks to James & Steve P. for getting the ball rolling.

Anyone who has a WW&F video that I missed (and I'm sure I didn't find them all), please let me know.

If you post a new WW&F video that you would like me to include in our playlists, please let me know.

Any suggestions are welcome. Help keeping this up-to-date would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks,

-Ed

Ed, what happens when you subscribe to our channel?  Do you get notifications, or do you  have to go looking for it?  Or what else special happens?

Thanks

Actually, I have no idea. I do know that it helps it appear higher in the ranking of searches, etc. - just like other social media platforms.
We now have 21 subscribers.

I just added a few more videos. I took the liberty of considering any Edaville footage prior to 1980 to be "historic". In fact, one clip from the 1960s may show the interior of WW&F coach 3.

Unfortunately anything that happens with less than 500 spectators is not news worthy in Maine. :(

Watch the Museum's social media accounts today. Something different is going to be attempted to help the outreach to expand beyond the normal group of followers. This effort is something that us away folks can do to help significantly by continuing to spread the word on ALL social media platforms. Don't just do it once, but do it regularly and be courteous. Retweet, Like, Friend, Post, Pin, etc.

Do it enough, involve enough other people, and more people start to notice

For example ... in order to get a short link on the Museum's YouTube Channel we need 100 people to subscribe. Having a short link will make it easier to spread the word since it is easier to remember a common simple phrase - WWFRailway.

Now you have to remember something like this ...
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCw1sLZdj1sNSEZ49axjknMQ (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCw1sLZdj1sNSEZ49axjknMQ)

We need to get to something like this  ...
youtube.com/WWFRailway

We currently have 25 subscribers on the YouTube channel, we need 75 more so we can get the short name and more visibility. Please go out and contact everyone you know on all social media platforms and ask them politely to subscribe to the Museum on all social media platforms.

You should be able to quickly get to 100 Youtube subscribers and beyond.  When I started work on the J&L 58 I began posting videos and my subscriptions jumped from around 700 to over 2,000 in a short while.  The videos you have already created is right up the same alley as what the people who watch my stuff wants to see.

I am curious as to what are the reasons for the various permits to work along the right of way?  Is this an environmentally sensitive area?

Agreed, and there are lots of really good videos included in the channel. It's just a matter of putting a little focus on it and blegging.

You are now up to 43 subscribers.  I put out a plea on the J&L Narrow Gauge Facebook group.  :D

I just subscribed and it said Subscribed 119.  Does that mean there are 119 subscribers?

A little shameless blegging to friends always helps  8)
