Title: EBT 3/4 size couplers may be available
Post by: Glenn Christensen on April 26, 2016, 04:35:18 PM
Hi Guys,

I just posted the following message in response to a message from Jeff Taylor in the NG Discussion Group website concerning the scrapping of a bunch of EBT hoppers.

I'll let y'all know what he says.

Best Regards,
Glenn

Hi Jeff,

If I recall correctly, the EBT used 3/4 size couplers, just like the Maine two-footers do and perhaps the EFPP in Brazil also?

If any of these couplers are available, please let me know who to talk to at the EBT and I will notify the groups in Maine.

Best Regards,
Glenn

We have reached out to Joe Kovalchick directly on the couplers; he had told us he'd call is when he got to the job.  Maybe there's still some possibilities...

Hi Jason,

You don't mess around my friend!  More power to you.

Best Regards,
Glenn

PS - I sincerely hope the "Friends of the EBT are successful in their efforts.  But if the hoppers are not saved, at least they can live on through their parts.

It wont fit. The 2' gauge railways used a 3/4 size coupler head alright, but with the rare (small) 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" x 16" shank.

probably still of interest to 2' groups building replicas or new rolling stock, it would seem easier to build with a slightly different coupler pocket then trying to have new ones made.

Agreed "TrainDude"! I think your idea is a good one. Knowing the guys at the WW&F, they'll do it "Right" at any rate.

But having the necessary information up front is always preferable!

Thanks to Loco112 for the information!!! Instances like this only prove the importance of your effort to preserve the information you are saving.

Thanks and Best Regards to both of you!

I seem to remember fabricating up a shank for 65. Could easily be done to them, or like you say, make new pockets.

Thanks Mike!

I thought it might be do-able, but its always nice to hear it from someone who's actually done it.

Gracias Amigo!
