Well, I finally took a short ride this morning. For all those from away, you'll enjoy these. Click on the picture to make it larger.

Due to size restrictions, I'll have to do it this way. 1 picture per post.

It looks great stuffed and mounted on that piece of track. I was there several weeks ago, before the arrival and I was at MNGRR several days before it left for Bridgton. Timing is everything.

Great pics Dad. Now all us B&SR railfans should go there, and ask when the rest of the Bridgton equipment is coming up this way. I would love to see B&H #7 there with two coaches running on at least a mile of track. Then again, I would just love to see steam in Bridgton, on the origianl railroad grade. LOL.

Wow.....
It's really happening! ;D

Mike,
My computer is not showing any pictures. Do you have any idea what the problem may be?

Is it just the WWF Forum site or other sites? If you are using Internet Explorer there is an option to not show pictures. Under Tools > Internet Options > Advanced is an option to Show Pictures that should be checked.
Hope this helps.

Bernie, rather than me tring to post more pictures, use this link to go to NERAIL. There are 3 pictures that I have posted.

Mike,
When I logged in, the pictures came up, but nothing happened when I clicked on them. Thanx for putting them on the NERAIL site. That worked out a lot better.

Yes, it is good that we were able to get the first piece of rolling stock up to Bridgton. We have other pieces in mind but nothing agreed to at this time. Stay tuned.
I'll respond to one post. There are NO plans to send #7 to Bridgton. We have already spent many hours towards getting this back into service and will operate it in Portland when we are done.
-
Mike,
Those are very nice pictures. I was in Bridgton last week and took almost the same pictures. Yes, those of us who like the B&H are quite thrilled to be able to look at a piece of rolling stock almost on the original grade. Thanks for sharing the photos for all to see.

I think the placement of the car is going to work out for MNGRR. Especially if someone were to make a sign stating the car is on loan from them. I went by today and there were a couple of gentlemen looking the car all over.
-
Mike,
Good pick up. There is an article in the lease that states that MNGR must be acknowledged as the owner. Bill Shelley has been out of state. Once he is back, I expect this will get taken car of.
We are working on what is going to go up there next. The display track can be lengthened to get another car or two on it.
Not sure what else is going on with laying track on the ROW behind the C of C. Maybe the "Bridgton Boyz" can chine in on this one.

Hi Guys,
I spoke with Bill Shelley this evening. The banner is on the way.
"Return of the Rails" is busily pulling together a broad coalition of local groups (including the folks at Maine Narrow Gauge) to foster local support for the project. That's the best way to ensure that when the rails do get spiked down, everybody wins, and they go down to stay. Stay tuned Mike. These things never go as quickly as we'd sometimes like, but behind the scenes the pieces are coming together.
Best Regards,
Glenn

Glenn,
That's great news for those of use who have a soft spot for the B&H/B&SR

I too know that Bill has been working very hard behind the scenes to keep this moving. Although there may not be any new physical evidence, there has been a lot of effort on Bill's part to plan many exciting next steps. Always better to do your homework so that things fall into place. Bill is doing his homework and we will be standing by ready to participate when we are asked.

I have a question. Are the "Bridgton Boyz" an exclusive club? The reason I ask is that back when they were talking about moving the flanger to Bridgton I offered to help with laying the rail and the response was a bit cool. Will there be any thawing when it comes time to lay some track up there? Just wondering if the help will be welcomed or not. I have a little experience laying track as do a number of the WW&F boys who also happen to be big B&SR afficianados. It would be a shame not to utilize it. I am not looking to run the show, just want to help. My guess is that they needed to get the fiirst step made without too many cooks and that going forward they'll take all the hands they can get. Hope so.

Dana,
After having a lengthy discussion with Bill Shelley a month or so ago, I definitely came away with the impression that all would be welcome to help out.

Is This Flagner 2 foot or 3 foot? Also can it Operate? =)
-
Hi Matt,
Everything narrow gauge in Maine is 2ft. 3ft is considered wide gauge by true mainiacs :-)
The flanger in Bridgton is ex-Bridgton and Saco River (Bridgton and Harrison.) I don't know what its state of restoration is, but the point in moving it to Bridgton was to potentially have a local group of enthusiasts care for it, and see what the community reaction would be to establishing a railroad display there.

As I understand the flanger is capable of running in a train. There may be some work required to operate the blade or wings but everything looked pretty good when I saw it last month.
-
We looked the Flanger over pretty hard when we were over there for the field trip. Everything was there, though some tender spots in the wood could be noticed. Someone has restored or atleast maintained the sides of the car. The end sills might need a little work. But overall complete.

Emphasizing Duncan's point...Bill is working hard behind the scenes. No exclusive club up there. Knowing Bill all help will be greatly appreciated once he is ready. He'll make that call.
