On Monday or Tuesday the annual fund drive letters were mailed, kicking off the 2015 annual fund drive. After last year's remarkable receipts (over $82,000, a record), we're very hopeful for similar enthusiasm this year!
Thanks to last year's record drive, #9's completion was assured; we set aside funds for a new turntable and new coach; a landscape architect to review our drainage needs; and continue work on the car barn. Thanks everyone!
For this year, some of the projects we have in mind are:
- Burying utilities between buildings on the Sheepscot campus
- Starting work on the turntable
- Work on a permanent coal storage facility
- Doors, siding, and track work in the car barn
- Funding for continued contract work on capital projects. Thanks to a near daily presence of someone at Sheepscot during the week, a large contingent of volunteer labor has started showing up during the week to assist with projects
- Second of ten Clark property payments
$15,000 for turntable
10,000 for Clark repayment
10,000 for contract work
10,000 for burying utilities
10,000 for car barn
5,000 for coal storage
These letters go out to all of our members, however anyone is welcome to donate, which is why I did not put the post under the Members-only section. You can pay with Paypal, just go to http://www.wwfry.org (http://www.wwfry.org) and click on the Donate button.
Here's to another successful year!

Well the Membership Office survived the first week of donations to the Fund Drive. Of course also during that week was the 15th, when all the membership renewals get printed, signed and sent. Luckily there was only 54 that went this month. We had just as many donations this week, coupled with membership renewals and other donations, about 6 hours was spent, entering data, printing, signing, mailing. There will be about 3 to 4 weeks of heavy donating, then will start to trickle off. Be sure to see the newsletter with the latest info, and the only place you will get all the info. Thanks for donating.

Mike
What is the pay scale for Minions?
Milk & Cookies? Cake & Coffee?
A good Pasta dinner? I might work for that.
-
Carl,
Minions get paid double my wage, so they actually treat me to the pasta dinner. I have to provide the beverage though...
I bet my mail carrier wishes it was time to count the mail. 125 extra letters this week would add up...

There go the prophits
-
Fred is our prophet
-
Nothing against Fred but:
The only profit is a Prophet?
The only people that work as hard as you guys for no money are called slaves -- or Train Nuts.
Or is it an addiction?
-
Working for no $$? Well narrow gauge isn't a hobby, it's a way of life. ;D
-
Carl,
Since this is a 2ft gauge operation we can't be slaves, nor train-nuts (that's those 4' 8 1/2" folks), we proudly refer to ourselves as MINIONS !!!!
Most of us are just plain minions, others are supervisory minions, we have several managerial minions, but at the end of the day we are all still minions!
-
So then any member who works on a sand dome or steam dome is a dominion? :D

Careful Steve
Keep that up and it will be moved to
"Whimsical Weirdness and Foolery"
Fund raising may sometimes be Whimsical. It is not Weirdness and Foolery.--- Mostly.
