Wait, is there some confusion about home verses work lists??
:D
-
How about Spring modification so ... it gets here sooner!

Anticipated work for Saturday March 7:
* Loco 9 - jacket polishing, and other work.
* Percival basement
* Snow transport
It's supposed to be around 45 degrees today, and sunny for most of the week even if below freezing, so that should really start to get rid of the little piles and reduce the big piles.
-
Work done Saturday March 7:
* Mechanical - Mike did some work on the Kubota.
* #9 - More polishing of jacket sheets.
* Basement - Steve Z sanded the drywall. Zack installed a counter in the bathroom. Right now the sink is upside-down on top of it.
* Snow - I got up on the scafolding for the north car barn and removed all the snow from boards and the top of the structure. Later I returned and removed the ice. Once the sun got on it it came off like butter. Mike got out the John Deere and started in on snow piles.
* Gift shop - Linda started re-arranging the Gift Shop back into normal mode.

Sunday afternoon, March 8th -
The intrepid time keepers came to Sheepscot today to set all the railroad's clocks. They arrived when the clocks read 12:30 and left when the clocks read 1:30 so they get credit for an hour.... right??
-
Nice try as long as you deduct the hour in October.................
-
But we can earn interest on it all Summer 8)
-
So how many clocks are there?
-
Was there a mouse in any of them?
-
Five clocks, (it would be 6 but the gift shop reglator is wound down) plus the digital on the stove and microwave. The office clock was never taken from DST last Fall so no need to reset, it's correct again.
No mice but one lady bug.
-
Was there a mouse in any of them?
"The clock struck one; the others escaped with minor injuries."

Anticipated work for weekend of March 14:
* Friday evening board meeting.
* Loco 9 sheet shining
* Snow moving (although nature has helped a lot in this respect this week)
* Percival basement.
-
The kitchen crew is planning a special St. Patrick's Day boiled supper for Saturday's meal.
-
Work done on Saturday March 14:
* Percival basement - Zack installed the sink and its plumbing, some fixtures, and painted the floor of the restroom.
* Kubota - See the official work thread for pictures. Mike took the bucket off, took his device he made to attach to the mower and after modification attached it to the arm, then attached the mower. It needs hydraulic power to do anything.
* Plowing - Fred moved around a lot of snow around the rafters and the east wall of the car barn.
* #52 - Mike needed to bend some pipe, and the best place to do it is in some holes cut in the upright timber of the first bay. The diesel was in the way, so after shoveling around the doors to get them open he started up 52. It took a little persuasion, but started fine. After bending the pipe, he proceed to "plow" (no plow attached) the first bay track. The snow is really hard and he got stuck a couple of times.
* Door repair - Stewart repaired the door in the west wall of the car shop extension.
* Gift Shop - Linda continued to fix things up, and is doing an exhaustive inventory (now that it is a little warmer) in preparation for Spring. Look for some sales at work weekend.
-
Plow to track 1: 4 guys, 10 minutes.
Plow on diesel: 2 guys, 10 minutes.
Plowed to yard limit, cleaned up, back in barn: 2 guys, 30 minutes
Moved like butter... Easter here we come! (Today was proof of concept...)
See ya
Jason
Edit ps: planning a Saturday plow party, prob not this but next, to allow more melting, and more help to clear xings, etc.
-
I knew if I played a little, it would give some motivation for the weekday crew. Track 1 was plowed with 1 guy in about 15 minutes Saturday to the run around..where I got bothered.
-
I feel so manipulated...
-
Actually was just trying to bare some rail to speed the thaw.
-
Anticipated work for Saturday March 21:
* #9
* Percival basement
* Snow moving
Saturday is Alna's Town Meeting day, so "townie" volunteers will be hard to find.

Report, Part 2 -
The "bus load" was the Away Team bringing some really cool donated things from an old mill building. Fred, Zack, Mike and James did well being crows collecting some nice items such as a scroll saw, cast bridge washers, vintage burlap bags and a bunch of full oil cans. The fooling around was the garage rats unloading and sort-of sorting the goodies in the garage. There will be more trips to the mill building in a couple weeks as there are more things to recover.

Well, we spilled a can of nails but cleaned 'em up. Yes, there are more containers of nails and screws, even the good stuff ... slotted screws!
-
Dana Deering headed up the team, only 10 miles from his home. We will need a really large crew the day we go to get the big stuff out. I hope we have a dumpster that day to get rid of the junk. The people want the building empty so it can be taken down. I guess we have to empty it.
-
He who must not be named and I plan to be up on Saturday if you need some extra bodies at the shingle mill. He hates when I volunteer him...
Dave
-
I don't when we'll be going again.
-
Hi All,
I've been trying to keep the shingle mill project under the radar while some of the final details are worked out but this is something I've been working on for over ten years and it's finally come to fruition (after a series of near miracles) and I'll share some more detailed information with you all in a bit. It's a very exciting development for our museum, I think.

Anticipated work Saturday March 28:
* Easter setup - set up for Easter at Alna Center
* Loco 10 - prep for Easter
* Snow moving - hopefully the warm temps and rain Thursday will help get rid of a lot of it.
-
Plow train departs tomorrow (Thursday) around 830 or 9 am. It should be back by Saturday morning.
Instead Saturday can be used to assess and set up AC as needed.
Also- no 10 will take priority over no 9 on Saturday.

Great video and a great project! Our friends from Montreal didn't even have to help shovel ;D
As they would say up there, "Vive le Cinquante-deux!"

-
Gee,couldn't you have waited another 6-8 weeks and it would all be melted.
Seriously, a great job done by all.
73* here today

Thanks for sharing the experience, Eric! Now let's all hope that the big snowfalls are done for the season.

Work done on Saturday, March 28:
* Organizing: Fred, Bill R, Dave B, Stewart and others worked in the garage organizing the stuff brought back last week, and in the restroom getting it ready for next weekend.
* Loco 10: Wes did some calibrating in the cab, then Bill, Dave, JB, and I started to put things back together.
* Loco 9: We brought in a steel plate to work on polishing of the iron sheets, as the sheets on the particle board was polishing splotchy. Wes started working on that.
