Found this on YouTube today. The Lynton & Barnstable is very much like the WW&F, and this 1935 movie is very similar to the Gus Pratt films. And the L&B is currently being rebuilt, just like the WW&F. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epW1OaP3gcE&feature=related

An interesting find!

The shots of the locomotives and rolling stock with lot numbers prior to the sale remind me of the extremely low prices (even by 1930s standards) that the equipment fetched. All of the locomotives went for around £50 each, apart from Exe, which had a steel firebox unlike the rest, which were copper. She fetched only £34… The coaches went for between £10 and £13.50 each. The exchange rate at the time was £1 to $4, IIRC.

Forgive me for resurrecting this old thread.

The L & B just received into the fold two 'original' passenger cars and are in the process of building from scratch a 12" to the foot duplicate of the Baldwin locomotive that ran there before abandonment. Their website http://www.lynton-rail.co.uk/ has some very good photographs of the new acquisitions.

I've been following the progress on the L&B for quite a while and it's great to see coaches 7 and 17 back on home rails after nearly 80 years.  They look beautiful!  Can't wait to see video of them running out of Woody Bay station.  Thanks for the information and the link.
