I have received the following email from Julius's daughter-in-law:
Just a note to let you know that Jules (my father-in-law) has had an eventful week. He is doing well at the moment and is at Cape Cod Hosptial in Hyannis having a defibrillator put in on this day, Friday. He will be back at Falmouth Hospital this afternoon once the procedure is complete.
Last TH night he was attending a dinner at the Rod and Gun club with Bill Wentzel when he had a massive heart attack. As only his luck would be, 2 EMTs were present and they also had a defibrillator! They were able to bring him back 3 times. Once at Falmouth Hospital he underwent ice. They cooled his body down to 90 degrees for 24 hours. The brain swelling is a huge concern. They next warmed him gradually over the next 24 hours. During this whole time he was in a drug induced coma. On the 3rd day they gradually reduced the drugs and hoped he would wake up. He did! He has made amazing progress each day. We expect he will spend a little more time in the hospital and then go to JML to recover fully.

Thank you John. Hope he does well.
-
Thanks John. Cindy saw a note on Julius' Facebook page about his heart attack and hospitalization. Sounds like things are coming along, we will keep him in our thoughts and prayers. Get well soon Julius.

Thanks, John. I saw something from him on Facebook too but wasn't sure what it meant. Feel better, Julius!

OMG Julius.......you're on FACEBOOK? Are you the greatest station agent a two-footer ever had or what! Sincere best wishes for a speedy recovery!
-
He's definitely a 21st Century guy - on Facebook and drives a Prius!
-
I've always said that Julius is "the most picturesque station agent." I hope we can look forward to seeing him up there. Good luck and well wishes!

I was able to visit Julius today at the rehab facility in Falmouth, MA. He's alert and looks terrific, he's going to physical therapy and he's eager to get home. I believe he'll be in rehab 2 more weeks. I know he'd like to receive cards and/or notes from us: Julius Stuck, c/o JML Care Center, 184 Ter Heun Drive, Falmouth, MA 02540.
-
THANKS, Rick!!

Julius Stuck is my hero.
I met him during the 2010 Annual Picnic and was absolutely blown away when he told me he was 92, and was putting more miles on his car than I was putting on mine. He apparently had just finished a 2000 mile trip with his girlfriend and was living life to the fullest, when many people would be content to sit in a rocking chair....assuming they were still breathing. I just wanted to know what brand of vitamins he was taking.
After just reading the story that John wrote to open this thread, I am even more astounded. For him to survive that kind of an event at that age (or any age) required a great many things to happen just perfectly. The fact that it all came together so well tells me something. The man upstairs is just as impressed with him as I am!
Best wishes for a full recovery, Julius! Dude, you are livin' right!

Does anyone have an update on Julius' condition? Hopefully he is progressing and will be up and about before too long.

I visited Julius today and he tells me his physical therapy is progressing well, and he expects to be released sometime after Christmas (not sure when).
Julius told me this is the first WW&F Victorian Christmas that he's missed!
-
I just received a Christmas card from Julius in today's mail. He says he's improving and looking forward to being back at Alna Center in the spring! God love him and I'm sure we all will look forward to seeing him there.

Anyone have anything recent to report on his condition? Hopefully, no news is good news.

Happy Birthday, Julius!!

We haven't had a report on his health since January. Does anyone have an update?
-
Sue Longo sent an email out about Julius yesterday. Julius was released in February, but since has experienced a fall and caught pneumonia. He's now in an assisted living home in Falmouth, MA.
-
Can we get an address at his Assisted Living location so people can send him cards and notes?
-
Julius' address at the assisted living facility has been posted in the "Members Only" section of the WW&F Discussion Forum.
-
Sue Longo sent out another note about Julius. I will post the address in the "members only" section.
Hi RR folks,
I spoke with our man Julius tonight. He is at the address listed below. He needs to get his legs back under him after his last bout with pneumonia. We had a nice chat...he is one sharp cookie especially when you consider that he will be 95 in January. Anyway, if you have a chance to stop by, that would be great. But, I think he would equally appreciate a card or two from his RR family. He spoke highly of the RR and asked in regard to all. I will never forget that first Halloween I met him...him in a "hippie baseball cap"...black with long white hair hanging down....he was drenched....made it to the minibar in the hotel and that was about IT! He was lucky he didn't get pneumonia that night. I think Fred put out 150 pumpkins and the candles, naturally, would not stay lit...crowd was still a big one!!! Anyway, let's help him keep his spirits up!!!!
-
I just wrote out a card to him and will send it tomorrow. I'm sad that he's had so many problems, but happy that he seems to be on the road to recovery. God bless anyone who makes it to 95. Maybe he'll make the century mark!

FYI:
I received a thank you card from Julius in yesterday's mail. He is recovering very slowly and wishes to be remembered to all of his WW&F friends. He said it is unlikely he can make the trip to Wiscasset any time soon. He notes that the WW&F "family" are the finest folks he has met in his 94 years.
He would appreciate cards and letters. His mailing address is:
339 Gifford Street, Room 208
Falmouth, MA 02540
