Title: Monson Maps
Post by: Bernie Perch on September 09, 2011, 08:21:00 PM
Roger,

Where can I find an accurate track plan of the railroad down by the slate plants?  Every one I have seen is definitely innacurate.  Are there any track and siding plans for the extension?

The Archives has such a map - I got a copy of their ICC filing from 1924? - which was late as it was due to the ICC by 1917.

Allan,

I will assume you are talking about the Archives at the railroad, not the forum archives.  If it is the former, I will check it out on the work weekend.

Thanks Allan.  I didn't know we had that.  I'm starting my Monson Blog.  Is it better here or next door where Ed made a special blog for me???

Either way, when the word gets out, I'm sure it will be a lively part of the Discussion Forum.

I know this is a very old post, but I am looking for a similar plan. Specifically I am looking for a Survey Plan near the old Kineo dump site. I have a reference in a deed to a plan by "W.M. Brown C.E. and Engineer of the Monson Railroad Company". The name could vary a little since the reference is very old and I could have a letter or two wrong. From this thread I'm not really following where to find the map. Could anyone clarify which "archives" I should be looking? Thanks for any help anyone can offer on this.

Ask Linda at our Archives first - and then check the Monson Historical Society in Monson. There are ICC valuation maps (with all landowners shown) in the National Archives on the beltway in Washington (New Archives Building). I had copies of these made for the WW&F Archives years ago.
