Anticipated work for the weekend of Feb 6.
The deep snow is gone and likely to stay gone for a while. I forsee more tree cutting and burning this weekend in the parking lot area.
It's likely there'll be some shop work for those interested in that.

Work done on weekend of Feb 6.
Saturday was lighter on volunteers than last weekend. Fred and I cut down two trees (a large pine and a small hardwood) and set the fire but that was it. Ed G. did some work on #9 in the shop. Zack started cutting and installing ceiling boards for the freight shed (tounge and groove). Everybody left by 3.
Hopefully next weekend with the long weekend there'll be a lot more volunteers showing up. Otherwise it'll take us years to cut off the rest of the lot.

Anticipated work for weekend of Feb 13.
It's my understanding the Mass crowd is returning this weekend (a long weekend) so we'll be chain sawing trees in the front acre of the parking lot site.
No work on Loco 9 is this weekend.
Anyone planning to work at the Museum on Monday? I can be there for the middle part of the day.
-
James;
I'll be there Saturday about 7:30 though I'm not sure who else is planning to join me.

James and Dave, I plan on being at the railroad for the next two weekends. Stewart

Correction to James' plan-- No 9 work is scheduled for next weekend, Saturday the 20th, in keeping with the third Saturday of the month.

Work done on Feb 13.
We sawed about a dozen or so trees in the morning, and after lunch happened there was no more cutting. The fire was well burned down when I left.
John R packed for the Whitefield Lions Club show in Augusta next weekend.
I took a quick tour through the shop and found nothing new to report.

Anticipated work for weekend of Feb 20.
- This is a Locomotive 9 work day. If interested, Jason will put you to work.
- If there's enough people, there'll be chain sawing in the parking lot.
- I'll be at the Whitifield Lion's Club Model Railroad and Dollhouse show at the Augusta Armory, along with John R and Marcel L.

Work done on Feb 20.
Work done on Loco 9 was drilling holes in the front of the smokebox for rivets to attach an inner ring.
In the parking lot area a large number of trees were cut, especially out near the road.
The train show in Augusta was pretty good. There seemed to be more people than I recall from last year.
-
Stewart also started the AA truck and took it for a short spin.
-
52 plowed the main line to north end of track last Friday, the 19th.
-
As James noted, the tree crew cleared almost to the road. We cut another 12 trees Saturday. We stacked the wood and had 2 burn piles going to remove the brush. There are a few remaining trees right along the edge of the road that need to be roped and pulled north as they are cut. The new parking lot area is so open that you can see the water tank from the road.

Anticipated work for weekend of February 27
Weather permitting we'll be chain sawing again in the parking lot. If it's too wet, then we'll probably work downstairs in the house.
There's no organized activity in the shop but I'm sure people will be working on Loco 9.

Hi everyone,
As far as I know James still has no power. This last weekend work was only done in bay 4 on the smoke box. Steve S. cut down the remaining half of a large pine. There was talk about an easter train on the 3rd of April. James will fill you in if he ever gets his power back.
-
Hi, I should have written Steve Z.

Well- if anyone thought an imposter was using Fred's name- now we know better. This must be the real Fred!

Power restored this morning ;D
We had a ferocious wind & rain storm on Thursday night/Friday morning, knocking out power to thousands of households, as many out-of-staters may have heard. The storm did not seem to affect the Museum much, as the power stayed on and a trip up the line on Saturday morning revealed very few problems.
Work was happening on #9's smokebox, primarily. The "patch" that is at the bottom of the smokebox was fitted up and was in the process of being drilled for future rivets when I left.
Although I hesitate to say it, it looks like Spring is making an early appearance to coastal Maine. The frost may be out of the ground before too long.
Watch, we'll get hit with a 3-foot snowstorm in mid March.

Bite your tounge James!

Jason;
You're correct, it was the real Fred. He logged into the Chat Room and then posted here that he thought he was chatting. I logged in but he never responded there. Perhaps he needs a quick lesson...
