Another work session was held today with a reasonably large grouping of people taking on some of the next steps to get #10 closer to to steam. Bryce and Jordan tackled the drilling of holes in the adapter plate so that it could be bolted to the smokebox and further drilled the next set of holes to eventually bolt on the cast iron smokebox front plate which holds up the smokebox door. For those who don't know since the new smokebox diameter is bigger than the old one, an adapter plate is necessary in order to bridge the gap between the different diameters of the smokebox and the cast iron smokebox front plate from the old smokebox. Dana, Bob and Nick worked on the cylinder saddle, cleaning and vacuuming the built up crud, as well as grinding the adapter piece that will go between the cylinder saddle and the new smokebox. While this was going on Dante and myself worked on a movable platform to display #10s bell and the thought is to have a money collection attached to the stand and offer it as $1 to ring the bell with the hopes of further fundraising #10s restoration.

The crew today consisted of Dana, Bob, Bryce & Hailey, Jordan, Nick, Dante, and myself.

Next work session TBD.

Thanks for the update!

The "Insert Image" button only works for images that are already hosted somewhere [either a 3rd party host or possibly already elsewhere on the WW&F forum].

To upload an image to the forum server, click the "Additional Options" button below the bottom of compose text message window.  Then click "Attach" and "Choose File" buttons. Note there are size limitations to that method, so you may need to resize/shrink your photo to use this method.

If you don't want to go through all that then email me your images and I can deal with the details of posting them.  Send me a PM.

If that's the smokebox -- I'd forgotten how small 10's boiler is compared to 9.

I spent part of yesterday getting a little bit up to speed on #10, since Cody and I have never seen it intact or outside of Bay 1. I found some interesting photos from the past.

The 2015 Victorian Christmas thread has great photos of the two locos together for comparison:
https://forum.wwfry.org/index.php/topic,2610.0.html

And within that thread, Kevin Madore shared a link to his Flickr album of the event with some more comparisons:

What great pics.  Almost make #9 look standard gauge.

Very glad to see a nucleus of a new #10 team forming, and hope it will continue in the same manner as Build11!!

folks,
It is really good to see work starting again on the WW&F #10; she is a fine little locomotive and will be very useful on the railway!

As a guy who has to wear one every day, Bryce really stands out with his hard hat on.. to me that is a sign of safety
