Saltillo Station rebuilt
« on: August 04, 2025, 11:35:21 AM »
I just saw a report about the re-construcction of the Saltillo station on the East Broadtop Railroad. They pointeed out that this was the only place besides Maine that stations were being rebuilt. That of course means the WW&F RY Musseum which has rebuild three of them! Nice work folks!

They would be wrong, though...I know of at least one other. Credit where credit is due.

Reconstruction of Riegelsville, NJ station on the Bel-Del was completed in 2023.

Hello Benjamin,

Thank you for your comment on this report. The station you reference (Riegelsville, N.J.) is featured in a photograph on the front cover of the August, 2025 issue of Railpace Magazine. I happened to be browsing that magazine and the Discussion Forum at the same time. Talk about coincidences...

Also, another station replica is shown on page 40 of Railpace. That is the structure on the London & Port Stanley at Talbot Street.

As a long time subscriber to Railpace, I enjoy reading of rail line restorations, new freight customers and historic preservation projects. Over the course of a year, there are several depot/station renovations, recreations or in some cases, removals. This would seem to be at odds with the "report" of Pennsylvania and Maine being the only two states to be doing so. My guess is that we are not getting the context of the original report. Perhaps the person who made that statement, was referring to reconstructed stations on reconstructed railroads who operate steam locomotives and that happen to be of narrow gage...24" or 36". ?

This is just my opinion at trying to understand the report and subsequent posting.
Wanted: Copies of correspondence and photographs from "first generation narrow gage railfans" such as Linwood Moody, Dick Andrews, Lawrence Brown, Ellis Atwood, H.T. Crittenden and others. Interested in all two foot (U.S.) rail operations, common carrier, industrial/mill and park/museum.

Thanks Bruce. Context is key. Riegelsville is just one I happened to know about off the top of my head.

At the time of my reply, I did try to comb through some of the EBT-related social media pages, but I couldn't find the specific post Ted was referring to.
