Work done on Saturday June 14:

* Archives: boxes of books were moved from the Percival house to a secure "temporary" location offsite.
* Engine house: Stewart was painting trim.
* Public trains: Pig Roast at SeaLyon Farms, the trains were (I believe) sold out.

And it only lightly rained for a time in the morning.  By mid afternoon the sun was out.

Work done on Saturday June 21:

NO RAIN!  First Saturday of no rain since March.  Beautiful day.

* Archival move - more boxes of books were moved from the upstairs closet to an offsite location.
* Engine house work - Stewart was painting trim, Brendan was putting up strips to attach the metal ceiling to.
* Public trains - very well attended.  I saw the re-enactors do their stuff.  (FYI today is also the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill)
* Grounds - Mike was de-ticking at Alna Center, and doing some work around Sheepscot.

I put out 10 bags of Ortho Bug Bgone at AC using a broadcasting fertilizer spreader, and a hand help one in the trees. Averill Rd was also trimmed.
Prep work at Sheepscot in the afternoon for track work on the woods track.

Best way to get rid of Ticks - a flock of chickens or Guinea fowl.  They love them.............

Good point John. I noticed the folks at Sealyon Farm are grazing a herd of baby goats in their fields. Maybe a little free range grazing (along the W.W. & F.) would help the cause?

I know it had been discussed in the past of having a (rent-a-goat) group to help out with ROW Maintenance.  Don't know what ever became of it.

Based on our use of goats in the retirement community where I live to eat vegetation on both sides of a protected creek, it will take 30 goats about 2-3 weeks to do both sides of the right of way for one-half mile. They are very thorough. Goat herder provides fencing to focus their eating location.

Allan, SeaLyon Farms has that designated eating area fencing up now. In a few weeks, they will have the ground cleared and will be off to a new dining area.

Work done on Saturday June 28:

* Steam maintenance: Friday it was discovered that a key pin in the piston rod holding it to the crosshead guide was very loose, so they tried to fix it, making it stuck.  Today the crew came up with a way to remove the pin, but it was too late for steam for the day.
* Machine shop: #10's boiler pieces were moved as was the tie grabber device for the MOW car so that the grabber could be welded to.
* Engine house: Brendan was at work.
* Grounds: Mike was doing a bit of work on the garden(?) track subballast.

Also on Saturday, June 28th, 64 or so people rode our two public trains of the day, including 5 intrepid hikers and 3 trail guides who braved the wet to explore the Trout Brook Preserve trails.

"It must be Saturday.  It's raining again."
We want...A SHRUBBERY!  One that looks nice, and not too expensive.
