A few photos as the day progressed. I arrived at 9 a.m., later than most of the crew. This first photo is at 9.12 a.m. The fishplates (joint bars) had been removed, and James Patten (white shirt, left) was busy removing spikes. Jeff Verney's excavator would soon be lifting the crossing track panels.

Jeff lifting and moving the first track panel just north of the crossing at 9.23 a.m.

Jay Barta (foreground) looks on as the main crossing track panel was lifted and set out south of the crossing at 9.31 a.m.

The crew soon began disassembly of the main track panel, as Jeff started excavation of the crossing and for placement of a new culvert on the south side of the crossing. 9.59 a.m. photo.

Crew removing the west rail from the main track panel in this 11.08 a.m. photo. Brian Whitney (white shirt) and Jay Barta are in the foreground.

Reassembly of the crossing track panel is underway in this 12.43 p.m. photo. First step was to properly space the crossing ties. Left-to-right are Brian Whitney, Harold Downey, Jason Lamontagne, Steve Lennox and Steve Leet.

12.48 p.m. east side view showing the setup to reassemble the crossing track panel, as well Jeff's excavation for the new culvert south of the crossing.

2.07 p.m. view, showing the west rail spiked on the new crossing panel and early work on spiking the east rail, as stone is delivered to set the new culvert Jeff and Brendan Barry have just installed, as well as to prepare the new bed for the crossing. The rail joints will now be staggered at this crossing, as shown in this photo.

Leon Weeks drove the last spike at 2.29 p.m., as Brendan Barry, Jeff Verney and James Patten look on on the left, Brian Whitney uses a bar to lift the tie, and Steve Leet and Steve Lennox look on on the right.

2.36 p.m. view. At this point, the day's trackwork was done, to be completed tomorrow. Another 1-2 truckloads of stone was to be delivered so Jayne's Way could be reopened tonight.

There was at least one other crew member I didn't capture in photos: Joe Dupree. Sorry, Joe. You worked hard as well today.
