It may be heresy, but would it not matter much if we used 26" wheels on the snowplow?  Also how many wheels are needed on the snowplow?

Snow plows have low clearance for wheels as it is- in fact the lead wheels may be 18 instead of 20.

My personal opinion is that a snow plow reconstruction, like our other historic recreation projects, is worthy of being accurate and true to the original.

I assume we have already been in contact with the other Maine groups and Edaville regarding acquiring used trucks and wheelsets.  But is there any interest in pooling a buy for new wheels?

8 wheels on a plow.  Same on a flanger.

We have contacted the other groups on this general topic; it may be worth a more concise study.

Tomorrow, we are planning on plowing the line with 52 and 9 together. 

We’ll need a large crew to help with crossings, switches, etc.

Work will then transition to tree cutting for the Mountain Extension.

Out of curiosity, how much snow did the "bomb cyclone" drop on the museum.

Here in NW Ohio, we got freezing rain, followed by some snow, overnight. By Thursday, it's supposed to break 50 degrees. Some areas might get close to 60.

Pardon my obviousness, but that is the dumbest name any educated meteorologist could have come up with. We had a good old fashioned Maine snowstorm, with the only addition being it achieved blizzard status. That is it. No big deal. The Blizzard of '78 was worse, and all they called that was a blizzard. Alna got between 10 and 13 inches, and more where it drifted in, less where the wind took it from.

Mike, "bomb cyclone" is a defined term in meteorology. It's a storm in which the barometric pressure drops 24 millibars or more in a 24-hour period. Of course, if a newspaper, TV station etc. just states that a storm is a bomb cyclone but doesn't explain the term, it catches readers' eyes more effectively, right?
