Albion to Burnham run

I. retired from Huhtamaki. WTVL a few years ago after 35 plus years in steam plant . Have hunted along th of way since the seventies. Remains of a logging camp are on this large lot West of Sebasticook river . Two roads run from a road paralleling the river west to the ROW. I am told there is a quarry on souher n rd.
My interest. Was quarry a source of ballast? Were roads used by landowners to access rails for to haul logs o r
Lumber?
Wiggin says this section removed early 1900's.
Possibly after land was cut over and RR usage declined.
There were farms along river and on Winnecook. (Leonard woods :-)
This has been subject of discussions around the fire.

The line between Albion and Burnham was supposedly never used in regular service.  It's entirely possible that the quarry was used as a ballast source for the line's construction.  I don't know what the lumber situation was like around 1900 but looking at it today most of the distance is fields or swamp.

Sure is boggy. I'm familiar with area north of Unity rd. Was it easier to drive piles for. ROW than to cut and fill to
build ROW?The big bog north of Leonard woods rd. shows no sign of filings even in a dry year.About 20 years ago
I saw remains of timber bridge made of square timbers spiked.. I was under 3 inches of water south of L woods rd. Also a long flat section Unity rd. to edge of bog after L woods rd. Easy travelling.
