The north crossover stub switch needs a little more tuning as it took two of us to throw it this afternoon.
Indeed. Despite Ira's reputation as "someone who can really throw it," I had to help him. In age there is (some) strength, and two geezers are still stronger than one.

This week.

Yesterday:  Jonathan finished making a grease cup, replicating one we have from WW&F no 8.  Both will be used.  Pics to follow.  Brendan, Jonathan, Randy, Ira and I worked did some running gear work on 52.  Brendan continued work on 9's tank.  Randy continued work on 9's spark arrestor.  Zack was in for a bit- on the car barn.

Today I went to Portland to move the jacket iron from one vendor to another.

Tomorrow I'll make a couple bends in a couple jacket components, and deliver them back to the vendor.  We'll also continue work in the smokebox, and on some remaining jacket prep subjects.  May get to ToM also.

Thursday will see Wednesday's work continue- plus several pieces of wedding preparation for this weekend.

Friday will be largely wedding prep- though stay tuned as Joe Fox may be in for some other subjects as well.

Jason

Anticipated work for weekend of July 20.  This weekend is Vermont Steve's and Annie's wedding, and they've chosen to make us an intricate part of it.  So Friday/Saturday we could call a Late Spring Work Weekend (since summer starts on Sunday), as family members and wedding visitors will be taking part in the work on the railroad.  It's also Father's Day weekend.

* Wedding prep - tents, dance floors, cooking, etc.  I'm assuming Steve and Annie have it under control, but might be looking for help.
* Whitefield Section house - This is supposed to be the pièce de résistance of the weekend.  This will be constructed as much as possible.
* Car barn - more work on bracing.
* Loco 9
* Other work that wedding party participants might be doing
* Sunday morning is the wedding, hauled by steam to Alna Center.  Steam will be running all day Saturday and on the public train in the afternoon on Sunday.  Father's ride free!

Weather note - Current forecast is that Saturday will be nice, Sunday there's a chance that the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill will be moving through.

Hi All,

First, you are all invited to this wedding weekend- Saturday for the work day, of course- but also Saturday night and Sunday for the Ceremony at Alna Meeting House.

Today, in addition to other great things happening at Sheepscot we got the majority of the joists installed for the section house floor. The floor will be done tomorrow.
I'm planning on building some jigs tomorrow to help the framing go by quickly with minimal individual measuring.

In addition to the work James mentioned, the following thoughts/projects that have presented themselves:

-Coach 8 is in need of some paint work and we are hoping that can be accomplished.
-Some might be interested in walking Fred's trail in Head Tide and seeing if there are downed limbs and checking the condition of the bridges.

If there are any questions please let me know either on here or via pm.

Thanks and take care,
Steve

Work done today, Saturday June 20:

* Whitefield Section house - they got the floor down Friday, and all four walls got put up today.
* Car barn - More work on bracing, and on mounting for the steel roof.
* Weed whacking - Dave B took a team of weed whackers and chain sawyers and cleared blow downs, and leveled the grass around Albee's Crossing.
* Surveyors - A group of people did some survey work relating to our boundary line on the Clark parcel.
* Train trips - The 3:30 train was almost exclusively populated by people in an old car club tour.  There was a dozen or so old cars out front and more than 70 people (some came in modern cars).  Other than that most trains were pretty full - we ran a 3-car train all day.  Wedding party people rode the train all day.
* preWedding - There was a good sized contingent of people working today, mostly on the section house.  The kitchen was packed with seemingly more food than you see at Work Weekend (Steve and Annie hired a caterer for the day).  Bays 2 and 3 were cleared out of train cars and filled with tables for the reception.  The decision was made to have the wedding train today rather than tomorrow because of the weather.  The food was good, and the tables were full of people this evening.

The "Surveyors" were actually were actually wedding party related (literally) and surveyed the types of plants and trees we have growing on the TOM parcel. They did not have much time, but identified over 40 different plants and trees growing there. They also found we have some Beavers in the back forty.

Spectacular X10!  Love your industrially elegant banquet hall!
Wish I could've been there. The place was jumping!
Annie and Steve-- unending smiles, continuing youth and strength; cling to your fellow classy WW&F workmates and friends.
You all show up as decent, kind, New Englanders. That essence comes through my computer screen every time I link up.

Oh, and great WSH, car shelter pics.
The Sheepscot Complex grows by the week.

Anticipated work weekend of June 27:

* Shingle mill - The final visit to the shingle mill is Saturday.  We are taking out all the big equipment.  I think the Sheepscot contingent leaves around 7:30.  Mike and Dana will be on site at 6:30.
* Loco 9
* Whitefield Section House and Car Barn if there's extra help around Sheepscot.

My hope is by the time the labor shows up, Dana and I can have something freed up to start moving by the time the troops arrive. Hopefully we get it all in one trip, but may need to return once more.
