Steam in September, 2014
« on: August 31, 2014, 06:51:50 AM »
General announcement,

We have revised our September 2014 operating plan to include steam motive power in all Saturday and Sunday trains.  Subject to the normal crew and equipment availability disclaimer- but we feel confident with both.

Will try to arrange for similar postings and updates to facebook and the website.

Thanks,
Jason

YAY! This is good news. With the publicity in Yankee and Trains, it should be an exciting Fall.

I suggest we go back to hanging the "Steam Train Rides Today" signs at 218 and Route 1 - to draw the visitors in. Especially at 218/Cross Road because of the Yankee Magazine mention.

Ed,  On a Sunday many years ago there was a steam sign on Hwy 1 and Cross road , I believe. That is how I found out about the railroad . Always a great way of to let tourist know about the museum and the fact that trains are running.    Fred L. Kuhns

Alas - the Route 1 highway signs are now in the middle of the pack, since late last year, so it is not possible to hang anything beneath our sign.  We don't want to move our sign to the  bottom of the column, since hanging our sign will cause there to be 4 signs on the column, which the Maine DOT won't like.

Since the theme of the article is the scenic pleasures of Route 218, I think the signs on 218 north and south of Cross Road are the important ones.
