I have discovered some issues with the trailer. Nothing that can't be fixed, and I have started on it already. I spent some time at the local NAPA Saturday and found some brake springs that are a close match to the ones on it now. At a huge savings to the museum. But in the process of removing springs to compare at NAPA, one of the brake shoes fell apart. Luckily I had already rescued some shoes from a scrap trailer at work and have kept the decent ones. I have also just found some new shoes online and they will shipped Tuesday.
The trailer will also need some tires. I have noticed dry rot on a few, with the one flat, that was a result of the spring failure work weekend.
We can fix it. Just will take time and a little money.
We have discussed the modifications needed to the deck and we will get started on that as soon as the brakes and tires are done.
