Stewart, thanks for fixing the Alna Center lock! It’s needed it of some time.
Brian, I appreciate your efforts on the trailer. If you haven’t already, you should use the pop up tent for shade.

I leave it to Ed to tell us about the points of this work and the fact that it was pointless to install stub switches here in the first place. (I understand why that was done, and it made perfect sense; I just needed to use the pun "pointless.")

Because I know somebody will ask....

When we arrived at ToM we had every intention of continuing work Down the Mountain with an eventual terminus at Rt 218.  In the meantime, we needed a run-around.  The configuration of two stub switches was "quick and dirty", as we assumed that once we got to 218 the two stubs would come out, leaving the long siding entered from the south, so that the run-around was at the bottom of the hill.  However, the crossover configuration has proved so useful that we want to leave it in, so we need to install a better solution which includes point switches, as the stubs are stubborn to move in hot weather.

Actually, as of late, the stubs were difficult to move in any weather, as the rails were not sliding under the catch plates without considerable effort that may have included jumping/kicking, striking the rail with a blunt object, use of one or more joint bars, a bucket or two of water, and/or the recitation of curse words.

On behalf of the train crews, we are all very thankful this work is underway.

Is track work on 9/12 a definite or still a maybe?

Steve, you are the MAN!  (or is it PERSON!?).  Anyway, you have become a great chronicler of the WW&F in this time of isolation for many of us.  Please keep up the great work.  I really miss volunteering on site right now.

A huge amount of progress was made on the smokebox for #10, and Alan will be posting a video of that effort. This is a picture the final product..

Work done on Saturday Sep 12:

* Pavilion: The first (outer) set of trusses were finished and placed on the structure, then the second set of trusses were picked off the pile and set up for work on next week.
* Vacuum train brakes: #9 was fired up and ran several trips to the bottom of the Ladder and back, testing out train brakes.
* Loco 10: Using the riveter they fixed up, Carlos and Jerry (and Alan) rivetted up a ring to the #10's smokebox.
* MNG 7: A crew was onsite to prep 7 for an inspection later in the week.
* Board meeting: LOOOONNNNG.
