Sorry to intrude on the work reports, but I can't find anything about what equipment was moved from Portland to Alna.  It was probably n another site.  B

But the question I have is whether or not all MNG equipment has been moved to Alna in order to save it.  Or there "stuff" still in Portland that needs to be salvaged.

My understanding is that the migration of equipment from Portland to Alna (WW&F or ML&W) is now complete. MNG has plans to build a new ramp track in a different location - but there may be issues with access and maneuverability.

If I recall correctly, the Vose railcar is currently in the care of a member/volunteer from MNG. I don't know if it will be moved to Sheepscot.

I believe at one time there were plans to put a sawmill there, using equipment obtained by the museum and Brian Fanslau, of ML&M. This predated the acquisition of the shingle mill. The plans changed, but the location name didn't. I'm sure Jason or someone can add or corrrect what I have forgotten.

I believe this is the history: It was originally planned to put the sawmill there, and some preparation work was done in the form of setting posts to eventually support the "log carriage track" (I'm sure there's a proper term for this which I don't know).  Then the Museum purchased the Clark property to secure the right-of-way at Top of the Mountain, and with this came a large amount of land west of the track.  That, plus the acquisition of a shingle mill and the growth of Maine Locomotive & Machine led to the relocation of the planned sawmill to Top of the Mountain.

Work done on Saturday July 11:

* Ballasting: Two flatcars were emptied on the Mountain today - we had a minimal crew.  There's probably about 6 cars left before there's ballast on all of it, although it will still need to be jacked and tamped then re-ballasted.
* Pavilion: Mike did some digging before the Kubota died.
* Car barn doors: The straps are on, Stewart was measuring for alterations to the boards bordering the door opening.  Doors planned to be hung on Tuesday.
* Board meeting.
