Tree cutting to start 12/27/08

We're going to try to do an actual cut through the hillside, although if we need more material we can take from the corner.  There will be quite a lot of material to use from behind Septic Heights.

Probably Pet Cemetary Hill would be a better name for it, as once the leach field and piping to it is built the Heights (which is really the leach field for the house) can be retired.  Harry's cat Buttercup is buried there.

I managed some shots of the clearing from last weekend. A few were at the Museum Friday and got some of the piles burnt.


I took a few steps further North to get in front of the tree.



The Hemlock (Green) tree and the two Birches to the left of it still need to come down. Really opened the place up a lot already. The Section House is just to the right of my photos but can actually be seen in the top photo.

Today were were by the Red Cape. I only have one angle, taken at lunch. Someone else like Bill could share his. This is from the corner by Rt. 218. We cut the East side just a little more before stopping. Plenty of wood for the steam crew. We cut it, they can haul it.

Looks like another two days of cutting will have the right-of-way cleared from Head Tide Road into the cut.  This will give a nice view of Head Tide Church in the tall pines from Route 218.

   This is my first (actually second the first didn't work) attempt to post on the new site and from my Mac. Hopefully, you'll see a photo from Head Tide from this past Saturday. Otherwise, it's back to the drawing board. If successful I'll add more tonight or tomorrow.

Info on the photos taken from Rt 218, showing the field, right of way fill and the church. You are looking South, We cut the top of the ROW and the West side. After this side is finished. The East side will be cleared, than the section in the cut will be cleared.

Having walked the r o w into the cut from the south, I was wondering how far south the current cutting project will go - will it meet the previously cleared section south of the cut?
