Is the tank car going to be part of the display or just stored or going to ML&M?

For the time being, the tank car will be on outdoor display/storage at Sheepscot.

If its a static display for now, I would suggest that a small project to clean up and repaint as needed be done during FWW to help protect it from the elements.

The tank car would definitely look peachier with a new paint job.
Just found out last year that SOCONY stood for Standard Oil Company of New York, had Socony Mobil gas stations around NYC, the Flying Red Horse.
Esso, Standard Oil of NJ, still uses that abbreviation near youz guys, in Canada.
Also saw Esso stations in Italy during 2003 tour.

How's the car barn coming?
Please help Mike do new roadbed grading/drainage.  :P

There were lots of Standard Oil brands after the breakup in 1911 or so.  Some Google samples:

The company was split into 34 separate entities, mainly based on geographical area. Today, the biggest of these companies form the core of the U.S. oil industry: Standard Oil of New Jersey: Merged with Humble Oil and eventually became Exxon. ...Standard Oil of Indiana: Renamed Amoco, and was acquired by BP.

Standard Oil of New York – or Socony, merged with Vacuum – renamed Mobil, nowpart of ExxonMobil. Standard Oil of California – or Socal – renamed Chevron, became ChevronTexaco, but returned to Chevron. Standard Oil of Indiana - or Stanolind, renamed Amoco (American Oil Co.) – now part of BP.

There was also Standard Oil of Ohio - Sohio

The tank car needs more than a paint job - the deck, and outer sills are shot.  Inner sills are good, though.

Standard Oil of Kentucky - Kyso. Also, wasn't ESSO Eastern States Standard Oil?

James, it's a good thing we are well versed in transforming "kit" flatcars into roadworthy ones.  When does the transformation begin?

And Jeff,  I don't recall ever seeing a ESSO gas station except in Europe but I do remember a line of lubricants under the ESSO name.

ESSO gas stations were common in southeastern Massachusetts where I grew up in the 1960s and '70s.
What–me worry?

Date yet to be set.  There's hope it will happen at FWW, similar to MNG 205.

About 10 years ago when I traveled to Ontario, ESSO stations were common there.  The US ESSO stations renamed to EXXON quite a few years ago.

Jeff....I used to drill the Standard Oil facilities in NJ and I asked that question and I was told that Esso was just the phonetic way of spelling the initials “S” & “O” for Standard Oil.

Are there replacement sills available?

Well I hope we do a first class job on the rebuild and with Zack in charge I have no doubt.  Is Jason inspecting the trucks for work and does it have brake rigging?

Conditionally, I'll sign up for at least a day or two to work on the car during FWW - can't pound spikes all weekend anymore.
