Considering Electricity will be installed, and the increased activity in the building in general, it appears to be time to reconsider fire suppression.

There is some discussion about fire sprinkler plans in an earlier thread:
Fire suppression is being planned. A dry system, fed by an outside source, a fire truck. A lot of planning has gone into that already. Including how to do it with as little as 2 fire fighters, all to buy time until manpower can show up.

Clicking on the quote 'link' should take one to that earlier thread.

Installing a sprinkler system is is likely to be expensive. So plenty of $$$$ [and time] involved.  :)

Extending the fire alarm system at the same time we extend the electricity is likely, so that's a start. We also need to extend the existing fire alarm system to cover the shop extension of a few years ago. I volunteered to pay for the alarm extension in the shop extension, but that fell by the wayside.

The same type of dry system could be installed in the car barn. We can't use a normal system because you would need a water source, like supplied water, that can last for a specific (I forget the exact length) amount of time. And, we have this thing called winter where there is a chance for the system to freeze.

Have we planned for roof rakes on these long pitched slopes?

That's a steel roof.  No roof rakes needed, it will all come down on its own.

In regards to fire protection in the car barn, If it isn't already the rule, I hope the board makes it clear that NO torch work or grinding  or anything with an open flame or sparks is allowed to take place in or near there.

It's nice to see the sheathing up and the windows installed.

The extension really looks great. The gang doing the sheathing are moving quickly and doing great work. Thanks for sharing the latest pics for all of us in the "away" category. I, for one, really wish I could be there to be part of this latest work.

Looking good!

Looking how close the tracks are to the end wall, is there any provision to keep a knuckle from
taking out the endwall ?

Wheel Chocks would seem to be tripping hazard. Blocking the flange-way would help but may not
be enough.

2 ideas:
Set a post vertical post close to wall (square w/ angle iron on trackside corners) would
be mostly out of the way.

Or make the wall under the window breakaway so if a knuckle does hit it does
not spring the whole wall.

I know you guys are careful, but sometimes gravity and physics rear their nasty habits.
They do have good habits but the nasty ones usually make a mess.

Thank you so much Brendan for keeping us posted through your pics that go to show that things are still coming along. The facade of the future museum looks really good.
Carl is right about the meeting between the the back wall  and a knuckle. Once in Pithiviers  the central buffer of a car met  a tank full of gasoil at the back of the engineshed . Just imagine the aftermath. But I'm sure you have already pondered that issue and found something efficient to avoid breaking such a beautifull facade.

We put the rest of the roof sheets we had on hand on the building this morning. I'll have to order the rest of the sheets Monday.

The rest of the soffit was finished on the front wall and the last window was put in.

Looking in from the big door opening.
