Maine Narrow gauge Flat Car
« on: April 12, 2019, 02:09:21 PM »
folks,
It seems that the Maine narrow gauge Museum is going to loan a flat car to the WW&F for the Spring Work Party.

The recent rosters of the museum do not show any fat cars; anybody know what the number was? or its number when it was at Edaville?

I am always wanting to add to my roster of Maine Two-Foot freight cars!

Hi Ted.
We were just trying to figure the number at the Board Meeting tonight. The best we can come up with is it was an open car that was cut down. Would have put that in the 100 series of Edaville numbering. It still has the end platforms, for now.

So if I understand this right, we will have a cut down pax car from edaville/MNG.  If it is a 100 series edaville car then is it an ex-B&H or SRRL boxcar that ended up being converted to a pax car at edaville?  Which then begets the question;  is it worth returning it to its original form?  And yes I know - a long way into the future...….

The flat car is going to be on loan to the museum from the MNGRR, so there are no plans to try and figure out what it was and try to recreate it. But we may be doing just that. Several flats that left Bridgton had been converted to passenger cars at Edaville.

MNG has agreed to allow the removal of the platforms from the end of the car. This will allow better alaignment of the couplers on tight curves and unballasted track.
