2019 Easter Express
« on: April 10, 2019, 07:33:34 PM »
Hi All,

With Easter Eggspress coming up on the 20th, it is time to put posters out. Bill Reidy has out together a beautiful poster for us which Jason has been kind enough to print. Tomorrow copies will be available by the sign in log at the Percival house. If you could assist in putting them up at local businesses, it would be appreciated.

Thanks very much,
Steve

A few of about the 100 Sheepscot photos I took. Damp days make for great photos..

Monson 3, with train #2, departing the Sheepscot Runaround track. The trains would load passengers, then move over to the passing siding to await the arrival of the previous train.

I have changed my photo hosting site...

A damp but fun day in Alna.

I didn't get a chance to take many photos today, but hopefully these will give some idea of the day.  I thought the event was very well organized, so kudos to those involved in the planning.  Execution was also done very well -- a credit to our many volunteers today.  I was conductor on No. 3's train, and we had a great crew -- Thank you!

Anyway, a few photos...

Maine Narrow Gauge Monson No. 3 and WW&F No. 9 steaming up this morning.

Jason Lamontagne led a volunteer meeting on the Sheepscot platform before the start of today's event.  We see a portion of today's volunteers.   Apologies to No. 3's train crew, who was standing next or behind me, out of this photo view.

A view from the south platform of caboose No. 554 at Alna Center.  Families enjoy the youngest children's egg hunt as No. 3 runs around the train.  Dave Buczkowski handled the Alna Center south switch.

Fireman Catherine Geren prepares to add water to No. 3's tank in Sheepscot.

Later in the day, No. 3 runs around her train at a wet Alna Center.
What–me worry?

Train #3 departing the Sheepscot siding

Monson 3 has uncoupled from train #4 to take on water under the watchfull eye of Conductor Reidy. This would be Catherine's first time using our tank.

Below, Train #3 is returning..

Nice photo feature on yesterday's Easter Eggpress on the Wiscasset Newspaper website.  It includes a video.

Easter Eggspress rides again

"The Wiscasset,Waterville, & Farmington Railway Museum held its annual Easter Eggpress on Saturday, April 20. Railroad Superintendent Jason Lamontagne said the event was going forward even though rain was scheduled throughout the day.

"“We run the railroad no matter and show a good time no matter,” said Lamontagne..."

I have fixed my images above, and added some.

Here are a few more.

Train #4 with Monson 3 departing Sheepscot Runaround

Had to step away for a bit, but made it back for Train #6 to head out.

#9 with Train #7 awaits the arrival of Train #6 from Alna Center.

43 minutes after Train #6 departed and had just returned, Train #7 departs

The next few pictures are of Monson 3 backing Train # 8 into the platform for loading.

Catherine waters Monson 3 again, ready for their last trip to Alna Center

On the siding, ready to go

And clearing the North Yatd switch

#9 with train #9, simmering while loading..

And the 9's are headed North. The last train of the day.

Best pics and news coverage yet.
The rain, steam, certainly added lots of atmosphere.
Well done!

Great array of nice well framed pics thank you so much Brendan and Mike. The steamy atmosphere is the only bright side of the rain . You take nice pics but at the throttle it's often an other kettle of fish.

Love that shot with the little girl in the red rain jacket, lower left, pointing at Monson No. 3. Can practically hear her shouting, "Mom! Dad! Look at the engine!"
