Most of the switch was bolted together and safety spiked today. The last two days have been in the 20's and snow is expected tomorrow, so we left the flat cars over the switch and covered the points with a tarp. The hope is for easy snow removal on Saturday to finish spiking.

Youz guys are terrific!
Switch is essentially complete, outside of spiking and mounting turnout mechanicals, some ballast work.
Might want to move that pile of old ties.  ;D

Looks like not much dirtwork is needed for the spur.
Great job.

After the switch is completely spiked, when does work on the spur to Brian's shop begin?

Likely Monday.  We at least want to build out to the derail.  Brian plans to join us then.

See ya

Will the ML&M derail be the first on WW&F?
C&TS has none.

You are merely amazing and it's has been totally exciting for me to follow what you've been making for one year  thru your many reports and pics  on the forum and on fb. Not a single day wihtout an  outstanding event or a brillant idea on the WW&F. I'm really happy to belong and help such a so successful association.

Paul, yes this will be our first derail on the WW&F, and the only reason for really needing it is due to the steep grade out of ML&M shop and to protect our main line through there.

What are Brian's plans for trackage at his operation?  Just a single track in or more storage capacity on the property?  Or maybe he just doesn't know yet...

Joe...do you still plan to eventually add a mainline-parallel,  overflow storage siding south from ML&M's spur switch?

We don’t plan any additional main line switches in the vicinity of ML&M. Brian’s trackage may include a track parallel to our main but is yet to be seen.  Immediate goal is to connect to one of the ML&M shop bays.

Thanks,
Jason

The track into the ML&M shop will go straight in.  Ties on top of the driveway and up a short 3.5% grade to the shop track.

Today a strange machine showed up.  See if you can identify it.
