The B&SR flanger from Maine Narrow Gauge arrived today.
I suppose that will occupy one bay of the shop over the winter?

Rough shop work plan flanger repair will commence following 320 w the same crew, while 67 will come in for completion by Zack.  Once 67 clears the shop well likely set up for the coach frame.  This is the ideal use of the two working shop bay concept.

Boiler work will resume later this year as well.  We’ve a bridge to cross first...

See ya

Gordon, the cat is officially out of the bag. We have signed an agreement with Maine Narrow Gauge to restore the Bridgton & Saco River RR flanger to operation, at which point we get to use and store it (under cover) for a period of 5 years. Jason, Randy and I had an outing in I think February to inspect it, then form a proposal and restoration plan. Just another great show of cooperation between museums.

It's appropriate that the very next news item on the Trains website is their $10,000 Preservation Award.  I think this would be a great recipient!

That's terrific news!  I'm very happy to see the direction of more and more cooperative efforts between the two-foot groups.  We're very fortunate Maine has Boothbay, Maine Narrow Gauge, the Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes in Phillips and the WW&F, not to mention the broad gauge Belfast & Moosehead Lake, Downeast Scenic and New England Steam Corporation's restoration of MEC #470.

These cooperative efforts strengthen all.
What–me worry?

This is great news! I knew some kind of flanger agreement with MNG had been under discussion for a while, so I'm really happy to see it's become a reality. As Bill R. says, this kind of cooperative effort is something we should be doing more of.

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but I wonder, is there any possibility that a similar deal might be considered for the B&SR snowplow?

Are measurements documented and photos be taken for possible copy?
Co-operation is great for every one.

Philip, the dimensions for the Bridgton snowplow make it unsuitable for use on our line. It is too wide.

Oh I hadn't realized that! Thank you for that information, and sorry to have stirred the pot unnecessarily then.

I think it would clear, but we are talking mere inches.. And would need a total rebuild. I believe MNG has funding to restore it, and hear that the guests inquire about it during the ride, so makes them a great conversation piece.

Oh, Very Nice!
When I first saw the post I thought of a different kind of flanger, and was wondering what was wrong with the one we have!  ???

Fantastic news. I look forward to seeing it during FWW. BTW, I have a great Moe story regarding the flanger and the tank car.

Without going into heavy detail, what repairs are necessary to put the flanger in service?
